What you need to know

Download Jacinta Bowie’s chunky star jumper pattern and learn how to knit reverse stocking stitch.

You’ll be putting yourself at the top of the tree this year, with this thick and luxurious star sweater! The fun and tactile shape emblazoned on the front is made from little bobbles, created by working into the same stitch so that a little protruding pocket forms. You’ll also be making use of reverse stocking stitch for the majority of the garment, which is the same as stocking stitch, except your right side is your purl side, giving some added depth to your garment.

Yarn: Wool Couture Cheeky Chunky, shade Ruby, 7 (8, 8, 9, 9, 10) 100g balls
Needles: 10mm, 12mm

Top knit tip

Handwashing is the best way to keep your knitted garments looking great for as long as possible. Always read the yarn label for product-specific directions for caring for your makes, but in general, you should fill a tub or sink with lukewarm water and add about a teaspoon of detergent. Submerge the garment and gently swish it through the sudsy water until it’s clean. Avoid scrubbing or twisting the fabric.
