What you need to know

Keep tiny toes warm in these adorable baby bootees and shoes from Susie Johns - knitting pattern for age 3-12 months

Whether you're knitting for a brand new arrival or it's baby's first Christmas, these two designs make wonderful gifts. Small yet perfectly formed, these shoes and bootees are simple to knit as they're worked in garter stitch. Don't rush the making up stage, take your time and stitch neatly.

Sizing

To fit age (mths): 3-6 (6-9, 9-12)

What you need

Yarn: DK, Boots:one 50g ball, makes one pair, Shoes: one 50g ball makes two pairs
Needles: 3.25mm
Ribbon: sheer, 5mm, 90cm (for boots), 100cm (for shoes) [optional]
Tapestry needle
Sewing needle and matching thread

SAFETY FIRST Although these shoes and boots are shown here with firmly stitched-on ribbons, you may wish to substitute those for another fastening method. A length of elastic can be stitched into the boots to help them stay on little legs, while an additional strap can be knitted and used to close the shoes. Pick up and knit the stitches for this so it is securely joined
