What you need to know

Turn rectangles into toys with Zoë Halstead's easy patterns

If sewing up is your least favourite part of the knitting process, you can halve the workload with this ingenious design. The legs, body, arms and head of these baby toys are worked in one piece with just the centre back seam to sew. Stitches are then worked to define the limbs, and you can add ears and details afterwards. Although fairytales might have you believe otherwise, these two are actually the best of friends!

Yarn: King Cole Big Value DK 50g, shades (A) 5820 Duck Egg, (B) 4033 Pink, (C) 5822 Pea Green, (D) 4021 Cream, (E) 4042 Denim, (F) 4020 White, (G) 3443 Rust, (H) 4027 Yellow, one 50g ball of each; (I) King Cole Truffle, shade 4371 Vanilla, one 100g ball; oddment of Black 4ply
