Four 100g balls of DK yarn
5.5mm needles
Two buttons
Size
To fit: average male greyhound (71cm from collar to base of tail)
Knitted dog coat
TOP
NOTE: start at back end of coat
Using 5.5mm needles and DK yarn held double cast on 42 sts
Rows 1-6: starting with a k row work in st st
Rows 7-50: starting with a k row work in st st, inc one st at each end of every k row. 86 sts
Rows 51-122: starting with a k row work in st st without shaping. Note: add or subtract rows here for larger or smaller dog
Insert st marker at each end of last row
Rows 123-132: starting with a k row work in st st, dec one st at each end of every k row. 76 sts
Rows 133-144: starting with a k row work in st st, dec one st at each end of every row. 52 sts
Rows 145-152: starting with a k row work in st st without shaping
Cast off
BOTTOM (chest piece)
Using 5.5mm needles and DK yarn held double cast on 42 sts
Rows 1-42: k
Cast off
Sew one end of Bottom to Top between cast-off edge and st marker
Using 5.5mm needles and DK yarn held double, with RS facing, pick up and k approx 60 sts for neck
Rows 1-20: (k1, p1) to end
Cast off
WELT
Sew second side of bottom to Top between cast-off edge and st marker. Sew neck seam
Using 5.5mm needles and DK yarn held double, with RS facing, pick up and k approx 120 sts around edge of coat, starting at middle of chest piece
Rows 1-5: (k1, p1) to end
Cast off
Rep for second half. Sew Welt seams tog
