Plus Size Knitting

A collection of plus size knitting patterns for you to enjoy!

Everyone deserves to look and feel their best, and knitting your own garments can often be the perfect way to make this happen. Every time you pick up your needles, you have the opportunity to create a made-to-measure piece that ticks all the right boxes. You can find a fibre that sits gently on your skin, choose a colour palette that features all of your favourite shades and select a size that complements your figure.

If you are a plus size knitter or know a plus sized loved one that you like to craft for, this stylish collection of patterns is sure to inspire and excite you…

First up is this Plus Size Sweater in Patons Merino Extrafine DK. Knitted in a strong red shade, this garment will help you to stand out from the crowd! With a boat neck and loose fitting sleeves, it should also be incredibly easy to wear. As shown, you could pair this garment with a belt to accentuate your curves. It would also work well with white trousers – what a great look for the summer season! The good news is, this pattern is free from LoveKnitting.

Next up is a pattern from designer Ysolda Teague. We just love the mustard yellow colour and the beautiful detailing around the neck. You could wear this garment open over a tank top or dress whenever the sun is shining, then simply button up if a sudden chill appears. This pattern is from a collection called Little Red in the City which can be purchased via Ravelry. The digital version costs £17 and the print + digital versions combined cost £20.

Another option that works for warm and cool weather is the When Seasons Change Cardigan from BiggerthanlifeKnits. Sold for £6.66 at LoveKnitting, this gorgeous pattern is not to be missed. Beige is all over the catwalk at the moment, so style savvy knitters will appreciate this look. What’s more, the raglan style ensures this garment is anything but restrictive, making it an ideal choice for plus size ladies.

Last but not least is the Seagrit Pullover from Lisa Shroyer’s Knitting Plus. Published by Interweave, this book features 15 fabulous projects for you to choose from. We especially like the Seagrit Pullover because it is light enough for summer. However, when autumn and winter come around, there will be plenty of new projects for you to choose from. Purchase the book for £4.90 from amazon.co.uk
