What you need to know

Try your first lace project with Anniken Allis’s stunning multi-way shawl pattern

Lace knitting looks intimidating but the stitches used are all actually pretty straightforward. This is a great first lace make because there’s no shaping. There’s a large rectangle for the back and two smaller rectangles for the fronts. The pieces are then joined with a three-needle cast-off. It can be worn crossed or tied at the front, cinched with belt or if you want to turn your shawl into a cardi, just sew up the side seams.

The circular needle is required to accommodate the large number of stitches.
