Mary-Jane Thompson's easy-to-knit baby bootees make a great handmade gift for babies aged 0-12 months.

These slippers designed by Mary-Jane Thompson are great for improver knitters who want to practise their increases and decreases. Stitched using knit, purl and simple shaping to form the different parts of the bootees, casting on this project is a speedy way to make your much-loved little one an adorable present.

What do I need?

Yarn, DK: green, yellow, lilac, white, blue
Hook, 4mm
Cord elastic, 2m
Tapestry needle

Sizing

0-3months (3-6 months, 6-12 months)

Top knit tips

For a cable cast on, Start by placing a slip knot on the left-hand needle leaving just a short tail. Knit on one stitch leaving two stitches now on the left-hand needle. Now insert the needle between the two stitches, wrap yarn around and bring through, transferring the newly created stitch onto the left-hand needle.
