Armed with your Siân Brown's cupcake pin cushion and stylish needle case, you’ll be racing to get on to the sewing up just so you can use these fabulous little helpers! They’re only small, so won’t take long at all to knit up and could make excellent last-minute gifts for a fellow crafter.

Top knit tips

Normal stuffing is the best material to use as it is easier to tease out so that you can make sure that there are no lumps and bumps in your cupcake. If you don’t have any stuffing to hand, you can use cotton wool, but be aware that this material can result in a firmer, denser finished piece, and you will want your pincushion to have a bit of give in order for your needles to sink in easily.

The sewing needle case is knitted with a garter stitch border, which will help stop it rolling up at the edges.
