What you need to know

Sarah Neal's cheerful fruits will top Bonne Maman, Tiptree and Hartley jam jars - knit them with DK yarn from your stash

Use small amounts of cotton DK yarn to knit these cute jar toppers to show their contents at a glance. They are sure to bring a smile at the breakfast table and would make a charming addition to a foodie gift hamper. Switch up the colours and details to make other fruits to suit your favourite flavour preserve.

These covers are worked in the round on double-pointed needles but we have included instructions on how to adapt this pattern for straight needles.

Top tip

Remember, when you work in the round, you always have the right-side facing you so only knit rows are required to make a stocking stitch fabric.
