What you need to know

Create a woven effect with Helen Ardley's bag, knitted in British wool

Create the look of woven fabric by using this classic knitting technique. The effect is achieved by picking up stitches; it's one of those patterns that looks questionable while you're doing it, but sorts itself out into a beautiful project at the end. Bags also make great Christmas presents, so what are you waiting for?
