What you need to know

Make these fun elf chair socks by Nicola Valiji for the ultimate handmade Christmas.

These decorative socks will have your dining table dancing around the room this Christmas! As you help yourself to the festive foods on the top of the table, watch as guests marvel at the bottom! The main part of the leg is knitted in simple stocking stitch, making it nice and easy to alter the length if you wish, to suit longer or shorter furniture. There will be enough yarn left over to make more than two elf socks, so why not sprinkle some magic over the dining chairs too?

Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK, shades 1256 Lipstick, 1826 Kelly Green, 1822 Pistachio, 1001 White, one 100g ball of each
Needles: 4mm

When switching between two yarns for narrow stripes, you can save a lot of time by carrying your yarn up the side of the work so that you don’t have to weave in as many ends later. Do this by twisting your two colours together at the ends of the row when you change to keep them secure, rather than cutting the yarn each time.
