What you need to know
Use chunky yarn and simple knitted stitches to make Lucinda Ganderton's stripy toy cat knitting pattern.
Named after designer Lucinda Ganderton's own friendly feline, Leonardo is a splendid multi-coloured cat with curly whiskers. He knits up quickly and is great for beginner toy makers as all shaping is very simple. Use chunky yarn in solid and multi-coloured shades. Look for a yarn with a tension of 14 stitches x 19 or 20 rows over a 10cm square. Machine washable yarns are ideal for toys but check the care instructions of your toy stuffing.
