What you need to know
Craft fun stackable cubes with Siân Brown's simple knitting pattern.
These wonderfully simple building blocks by Siân Brown are fantastic toys for babies who will love looking at the colourful motifs and squeezing the soft cubes. Toddlers and older children will enjoy building towers, knocking them over again and naming the pictures and colours. Our cubes are knitted in a soft cotton yarn and feature simple intarsia motifs and bright stripes.

Top knit tip
These blocks use the intarsia technique to create the colourful motifs. This method is used when the background colour on either side of the motif remains the same. To join in a new colour in the middle of a knit row, knit to the change of colour and then lay the new colour over the old one, between the two needles, with the tail to the left. Bring the new colour under and then over the old colour. Knit the stitch with the new colour. You may need to lightly pull on the tail of the new yarn to tighten up the first stitch once you have knitted a couple more stitches.
