What you need to know

Use DK yarn to knit Nicola Valiji's cute and quirky toy

A species of aquatic salamander hailing from Mexico, the axolotl is unique in that it never ‘grows up’ like other amphibians – while tadpoles turn into frogs, axolotls retain their baby characteristics with their feathery gills that sprout from their heads like a mane, adorable smiling mouth and a tail. And if these forever-babies weren’t cute enough already, Nicola Valiji has made us a huggable knitted version using pretty pastel colours.
