Tying the knot

I do, you do, we all do – knitting that is!

You can’t beat a good wedding – beautiful bride, witty speeches and lots of (shocking) dancing!
Its wonderful to catch up with family, especially as every has such busy lives.

One thing I noticed while hanging out with the clan is that my entire family knits… well that’s a slight exaggeration, but most of them are nifty with the needles.

This adorable wedding cake topper was handmade by mother of the bride, my auntie Pam. Throughout the weekend I was surrounded by people knitting, including my mum & sister, and small people in handknits (my three lovely nephews). Even my uncle, Michael Monster, told me about a garter stitch peg bag he made in his younger days! We’re all at it!

Does this mean that I have knitting in my genes? I hope so. Then when my non-knitty chums (and yeah there are a teeny-weeny amount that I haven’t converted...yet!) say things like “If you didn’t spend all you cash on yarn you could afford...” or “What are you knitting socks for?” or – and this really kills me -“Do you have to knit in the pub/on the bus/ in the supermarket queue?”
I can shout out - “It’s not my fault – it’s genetic!”

In honour of this romantic moment lets quote Shakespeare (’cos the opportunity doesn’t come round often and I’d hate to miss it!)
“Knit your hearts with an unslipping knot” Antony & Cleopatra (See what I did there? It must be genetic!)
Woop Woop for the newlyweds!
