This is not a prank

This is not, I repeat not, an April Fool's joke!

Knitting two socks at once is not an urban myth – it’s tricky, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not impossible!
I cast these on a couple of weeks ago and (as my fellow Stitch’n’Bitchers will testify) there were a few tense moments. But, after a couple of awkward rounds of 1x1 rib, I think I may have finally gotten into the swing of things.

So, how does it work? Well, truth be told I think it is some kinda magic… or magic loop to be exact. (Can you tell I’m still mesmerised by the whole thing?)
I’m not 100% certain that I’m doing it right, but it’s working so I figure why question it.
I think the simple stocking stitch of the ankle is lulling me in to a false sense of security. Perhaps I won’t be so smug when it comes to turning the heel, but for now I say two-at-once socks – bring it on!

Oooh.... they’re fab Laura!  I’m loving the double-bubble magicness here… magic loop and magic stripes! What’s the yarn you’re using? smile

The pattern is a FREE Regia one.... It has a standard heel flap and I’d love to adapt it to a short row heel ‘cos I find them much neater.  But I will wait and see how tricky things are when I get there!

Laura I am jealous!  I just bought the book “2-at a time Socks” to avoid that 2nd sock gloom - and I just can’t get the hang of it!  I love knitting socks, it’s a passion, but I seemed to end up in a right old pickle - should I persevere?  I’ve ended up knitting one of the patterns from the book on 4 dpns!!  Not really what I had in mind!

I bought “2 at a Time Socks” and decided to knit only one at a time to see if I could get the hang of using the magic loop technique.  It’s so fulfilling once you get used to it [and the added bonus of not loosing a needle].  After seeing your great socks, I’m going to be brave and give 2 at a time a go.  Don’t you just hate second sock syndrome.  [Still love dpns though.]

I bought “two at a time socks” as I have never even attempted one sock before and just KNEW I would get second sock syndrome....  Think I may be trying to run B4 I can walk though… It’s all a complete mystery to me and I have been knitting for 40 years!

I think your socks are excellent and a great way of ensuring they are the same length withou row counting. Cause I have arthiritis I can’t use the circular needles wich is a pity, but am good at adapting items on to single needles.
