Leaps and bounds!

Today is an extra day, with this being a leap year we have a whole additional day to play with and I feel compelled to make the most of it!
Three things I love today.....
Let’s Knit has a brand new website!
It is great to have a little place to call home in the big wide world of the internet! This is a spot for knitters to gather and share information, advice, knitting stories and show off the latest creations. Not to mention enter the fab knit giveaways and access the online pattern collection and watch technique tutorials. This is a place to come to share your passion, make new friends and find inspiration!
The evenings are getting lighter!
Could it really be that Spring is springing? With the weekend just around the corner it feels great to have even more hours of daylight. It seems easier to feel inspired when the sun is shining, your energy levels are up and you spot a whole array of fresh spring coloured yarns at the LYS. And, dare I say it, more knitting hours in the day?!
I’m wearing handmade socks!
Nothing quite puts that bounce into my stride like sporting hand knit socks. It’s not like a jumper, people don’t immediately notice you’re wearing something you created (unless you spend the whole day lifting your trousers and saying “Check these out – I made them myself!”) But the sense of achievement and satisfaction is second to none – perhaps if I can maintain this smug feeling a little bit longer I might finish the cable lace socks that have been sorely neglected!

great socks, I have bought some Regia sock yarn and am determined to make some socks for my cold tootsies. I love this timeof year, I love seeing all the spring bulbs blooming, seeing the first flush of green on the trees and listening to the birdsong. I know the birds are really shouting abuse at each other to keep off their branch, but it sounds good.

WOW!!! I love the socks. I just can’t master sock knitting! But I know if I did I’d be totally addicted!

Ooooh..... I want to make some of those socks! But maybe I should master cable, lacey stitches, oh - and socks - before I try combining all three! Always trying to run before I can walk, me (an appropriate turn of phrase given the foot-related topic I thought...)

I am just about mastering the knitting of socks - came out a bit twisted to start with. Just love these self-patterning wools and am building up quite a stash.
I knit on the train amongst other places so sock knitting is manageable.
Though thinking of making a patchwork coat using squares of these self-patterning wools

I started knitting the socks from March Issue and when my youngest son (14 years) noticed what was appearing on my needles, he said he wanted them. I made them and enjoyed making them, gave them to him and they havent been worn yet. So annoying. I am now going to stitch in some elastic around the ankles to make them fit me! (he is a size 13 shoe, i am a 6). You cant beat a home made gift and I think people out there should stop spending their money on stuff that dont last five minutes and make something worthwhile. Well Done, Let

I love those socks -you look one cool dude in those .Socks are great to knit and it makes me sad when people say they cannot master them .think i shall do a podcast about knitting socks --lets face it you are knitting two tubes joined with an angled join and it is only this angle commonly called ‘turning the heel ‘that worries people .I f you can pick stitches up and if you can knit 2 tog then believe me you can knit socks keep a watch out foer the podcast tutorial on this .

I have knitted sox Oh yes I have and they turned out well, in fact brill. I am also using this self patterning yarn to make cuff and hand warmers and they look lovely poking out of a coat of jacket, I wear them indoors too, as i have poor circulation they tend to help this. I have made these little treasures for my girls and friends and they can be knitted up in an evening. I keep a project in my hand bag all the time, and its a great conversation starter.
