Found this piccie of my Blythe doll, Lux, and just had to share!

I appreciate that it might not be the coolest thing to admit to owning a doll at my age and making garments for her – but there is a real sense of satisfaction in creating Dolly Couture. Here Lux is happily modelling an off-the-shoulder pink alpaca number.

Knitted dolls clothes reminds me of my childhood. Although I never actually made clothes for my toys myself when I was young, they all had a vast wardrobes of hats, sweaters, scarves, cardigans and dresses. With Mum and two Grans all avid knitters I was never short of mini woollens.

I remember requesting a pink and whiter sweater for a teeny-weeny plastic mouse – magically my Grandma made a prefect little jumper for a toy that was only 4cm high! I can also remember my mum knitting a really fancy lacy baby cardi in a couple of evenings because I was worried that Tiny Tears might get cold on holiday! (A chill was the least of that doll’s worries – I think she lost a leg shortly after!) Never let it be said that I’m some kind of pampered princess!

The weekend looks set to be gloomy but here’s three reason why I won’t be glum...
The Bold & Bulky Mini Cardi
This beauty had already been cast on and I can’t wait dedicate some time to it!
Yet more new yarn
Last night I was given a beautiful box of Sublime Soya Cotton DK as a gift! It’s so delicious I could eat it. Wont have time to do anything with it, but just knowing it’s there makes me happy.
And one non-knit related - Spotty-dotty wellies
Footwear that is both novelty and practical (and yes my best friend has a matching pair!) so, if I do have to brave the elements those pesky puddles wont get the better of me!

    hi
I started my knitting life by making loads of dolls clothes and still have the patterns I used, they have been used to clothe many dolls by myself and others over the years, Your blog brought back many happy memories,

I’m jealous of the spotty wellies, I’m going to Scotland for hols this year and feel snazzy wellies are a must if only for an insurance policy!!
