BSJ - Progress at last

The 'surprise' is that it's still on the needles and it hasn't been completely frogged!
So it seems like everyone on the world wide knitty web has knitted Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Baby Surprise Jacket and now it’s my turn – apologies for being a little late to this party!
This has been on the needles for a week – the majority of that time has been spent knitting and ripping back, knitting and ripping back. It just never seemed to make sense or add up – even though I have the advantage of having seen a completed BSJ (both seamed and unseamed) and I’m armed with study notes. (Thanks Francis & Lucy!)
Last night I decided to adopt a kind of a ‘take no prisoners’ approach to knitting – if it still wasn’t working I would admit defeat! (Yeah- I really did just say that!)
But something amazing has happened - not only have I managed to get past Row 5, but it all seems to be taking shape!
Ok so I’m only a teeny way through the pattern, but it feels like someone has suddenly turned the light on and I’m no longer chucking my needles around in the dark.
Just need to finish it before the new baby arrives....no pressure!

hi,
I’m really interested in your BSJ by Elizabeth Zimmermann. I’ve had a little check and have found out pattern is in Opinionated knitter. Which is over 30 quid on amazon. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy to pay for patterns and will buy the book but is that the book you got your pattern from? and are there lots of other good patterns in it? Are they all baby patterns. I do knit baby stuff for friends but my children are adults and haven’t yet done the decent thing grandchildren wise so not sure I want to shell out that much for one pattern!!! I’m definitiely not asking for a freebie of any sort but if there is a cheaper option I’d like to know!!
Love bagqueen xx
ps love the blog and the maggie x
