I sure am!! Why can't this be my stash?
Yesterday Emily (LK Ads Guru) & I went on a special day trip to go and meet the lovely peeps at Artesano.
Well what can I say - I’m huge fan of alpaca and Artesano never disappoints! There is something about the delicious soft fibres and divine colours that sends my head into a spin!
It is always fantastic to see huge yarn mountains – especially when it is the exquisite Manos yarns. Having just designed a lacy shawl (see Issue 9 - on sale 11th July!) and having fallen completely and utterly in love with the Silk Blend finding myself in a room, floor to ceiling with skein upon skein is beyond fantastic! Not sure if I will ever be the same again.
Despite still being on the strict knitty deadline for the secret lace project (which I might have messed up a little while knitting at lunchtime – grrr!) I’m plotting a whole series of alpaca goodies and the research is proving to be a lot of fun… be sure to check out Issue 10 for a run down of some of the tastiest alpaca yarn out there!
I’m a little loved up and will probably be in yarny- daydreams for the rest of the week. I did have to keep reminding myself that this isn’t a personal stash – it is actually a business. But what the heck, a girl can dream, right?!

Well, kind of...Let's Knit has moved into a shiny new office!
I’m writing this at at my brand new desk in our brand new office! Woop Woop!
What can I say – we have all the joy of a lovely new office but without the drama of having to move too far – we have literally moved to the building next door!
Everything is looking ship-shape at the new LK HQ – there is always that worry that you might leave something important behind but think we have everything…
Computer – check
Telephone – check
(Lollypop) Pot plant – check
Stash – CHECK! Seriously you think I’d leave good yarn behind?!
All present and correct!
Here are a few things I’m feeling chipper about…
Settling in to our new office!
Having the biggest supply of Smarties in my new desk drawer - yum!
Looking forward to a weekend with friends and perhaps some time to work on the Secret Lace project!
ps: I wonder if I’ll autopilot-walk into the wrong building on Monday morning?!

Pretty & pink

It's vintage and it's knit related – It's perfect!!
This was gifted to me by my sister for my birthday – isn’t it the lushest thing on the planet?!!! I love, love, love it - never let to be said that I’m predictable!! Who would have thought that a pink Bakelite yarn holder with delicate little flowers on the top and it’s own mini needle gauge in the bottom could bring so much joy?!
I can see myself toting this around and straight away it makes me want to cast on something portable like pair of socks – something lovely and lacy in kitten-soft, hand dyed yarn...oh wait that sounds just like the Falling in Love socks that are currently in hibernation. For someone that is so besotted with hand knit socks as me, I feel really bad that are sitting in my work basket on the sideboard and haven’t seen the light of day in longer than I can remember.
I have been trying to work out why these socks have been neglected for so long...the yarn is lovely, the needles are a joy to use, the pattern is perfect – not to easy not too tricky, the results (so far) are delicious. Yet still they remain unfinished! My knitting infidelity is clearly to blame, too many WIPs and sadly this has dropped to the bottom of the list.
I know that it would be rash to vow to change my ways and declare to finish them as soon as possible – so instead I am going to promise that the next time I take them out and hold them, dreamily thinking, “if only these were finished...” I will work a few rows and see if I can fall in love with the Falling in Love socks all over again.

Happy Friday

Paraskevidekatriaphobia?! Try saying that three times fast!
With today being Friday the thirteenth I have been trying to work out if in fact I am superstitious. As a rule I’d say not, but I do always check the latch on the tray table every time I take a flight (all thanks to that movie Final Destination!) So, as I’m probably the most contrary person I know, I think the jury might still be out!
Anyway I’m not taking any chances of having a horrid day, so here are three super happy thoughts that can counteract any Friday the thirteenth gloom....
The latest issue of Let’s Knit goes on sale today!
Woop Woop for Nova!! I’m super pleased with the finished travel pillow. This really is a testament to all that I learnt at the workshops with Sasha Kagan and Jean Moss on the knitting retreat. (Ro: I bet you can’t believe those scribbles and knots turn out like this!)
I get to try out a posh frock at the weekend!
As a life long fan of playing dress up going to a bridesmaid dress fitting is uber exciting. I can’t wait to put that stunning gown back on a swooosshh around in it – wonder how many times I’m going to get stuck with pins?!
WWKPID
World Wide Knit in Public Day is tomorrow and I have heaps of knitting – YeeHaw!!
I’m not sure where exactly I will be doing public knitting but as I’m the queen of setting myself wholly impractical challenges – Oh yeah, I can knit that entire cardigan before next weekend (!) – I have knitting of epic proportions to get through. So, this weekend where I go the WIPs come too, what fab motivation to get things finished!
All that said, I still reserve the right to curl up in my yarn stash and hide if things do turn out bad today!!!
