HI to Gail, Nicky, Nelly and Gill!  Hope you’re all well today.  I will probably dig into my knitting later tonight...been out and visiting a friend.  Hope you all had a nice day!  Yes, the midgies are awful aren’t they.  You have to put something on yourself before you go out there!  I’m sure I will enjoy this group.  By the way, have any of you ladies ever knitted with wire?  Apparently its a new trend, you can make bracelets that way.
Best wishes, Jles x

Hi Jles.
I have not tried to knit with wire as it is not the sort of thing I would wear anyway. Some of the stuff on the wwws are beautiful. Just not my style.

I haven’t knitted with wire but I make bobbin lace and I’ve done that with wire. The wire is very sore on the fingers and, with some types, it won’t stay on the bobbin. I didn’t enjoy it and wouldn’t do it again. Maybe knitting would be better.

I knit for dolls mostly - so I use very fine wool (1ply) and thread for knitting.

This is a knitted ball - excellent for christmas decoration!

It’s knitted in one piece and takes about 30 minutes. I knitted it with crochet thread and used PVA glue to stiffen it. It got a bit dirty after a couple of years on the christmas tree, so I washed it and used PVA again to stiffen it - worked a treat. Here’s mine:

May be you can help me.  I’ve never been to the UK before.  I live in America but will be moving to Edinburgh, Scotland soon.  I’m a little nervous about the Scotland.  I knit and hav been trying to find out about the yarn shop over there.  I have an allergy to wool.  So knit with cotton yarns.  How is the yarns shops there?  Does yarn cost a lot there?

Thank you,

Teddy Bear

HI and welcome. There are lots of Scottish knitters on this forum who will be only too happy to show you all the wool shops and there are lots of websites for yarns.
There is no need to be nervous, the Scots are the most friendly, lovely people.
Almost as lovely as us Yorkshire folk.!!!!! LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL

Dear Gail,
thank you so much for the lovely pattern for a Christmas ball!  I’ve just printed it out.  It looks lovely!  I think I might have a go at it sometime.  I was interested to see Grant42s pictures and the lovlely wee teeny hats, aren’t they cool!
Hope you’re all well and having a nice evening.
best wishes,
Jles x

HI,Jles. Yes, I especially like grant42’s Scooby Doo jumper. My daughter’s a fan of Scooby. Maybe I should make a similar jumper for her.

I love the knitted smoothie hats - I think it’s an annual event, isn’t it?
