Hi Everyone I have had a rubbish day today. The kids (11 and 16) and a hubby have all walked out and left the house a tip today, everything at their bums.Raining and went out today got back and have lost the house key somewhere so had to drive 12miles each way to get the spare key.  Started tea and am really fed up today. Had to go to a shop to pick up things and waited 3/4hr to open and it still hasn’t. Hung the washing out because it looked brighter and down the rain has came and it’s still out their. Do you ever get a day when you want to keep walking.
SOOOOOOOORRy for moaning Anne downer

Aaaaaah, poor anne - I think everyone has a bad day now and then and it sounds like you are having a rotter.
And I can remember being a teenager and my mum moaning that the house was a tip and not even being able to see what she was talking about - bet I would now though (and I feel bad about being so awful when I was younger!) I don’t think you really realise what your mum does for you til you move out to be honest, but maybe someone will be along soon with teenager training tips.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I got two teenage boys sharing a bedroom of 12 feet by 10 feet and I have not gone in there for months.  I refuse to.

I poke my head round the door and say, “get the hoover, polish and a bin bag and clear this mess up”. It works sometimes.

Because of being at home off work for 3 weeks my house is really tidy and I have now decided that I do one room a day so that it rotates.  My sister in law told me that, and it does work.  My boys came in one day last week and I had spent 5 hours (with a couple of tea breaks) just blitzing the place and because it was so tidy, I only have to give them a look and they clear up their mess downstairs.  I make sure now that after dinner everything gets washed and wiped up and they have to do it too.  (That doesnt happen unless there are arguments but I dont care).

I went on strike once and did not cook for two days, clear up anything or wash anyone elses clothes. Plus I stuck “post it” notes all over the house on crisp bags left out, shoes or socks left out, school bags and junk left out etc.  I even stuck a post-it on the toilet seat that said “clean me or sit on it”.

Sometimes us mums of teenagers need to stick to our guns.

Love Susan

Hi Anne, sending hugs to hopefully make you feel better.
I was hoping when Leigh-Ann turned 20 she would start tiding up her room a bit more… YEAH RIGHT what sort of cuckoo planet was I on. Ok she has only been 20 for a week but if anything its worse with bday presents all over place and no effort made to find a home for them. I trip over 1/2 a dozen pairs of shoes when I venture in to get washing for the machine. She goes on holiday to Turkey on Mon for a week and I’ve threatened to go and clean her room while she is gone. She’s threatened to leave home if I do........ still debating that one it’s a toughie.

Thanks girls, hubby came home and I thinl he had prompted our daughter and boyfriend in the car.  All had dinner together and Lisa hoovered the landing and three bedrooms and hubby hoovered the stairs and me and her boyfriend cleared the table and filled the dishwasher ( boyfriend eats here he helps tidy up) fair I think. Anyway all was calm and then hubby suggested a wee spin on the bike, so 1pm all in bed, boyfriend away to night-shift at work and me and hubby having a wee glass of wine and I’m chatting to my cyber friends.  A HAPPY ENDING FOR ALL ANNE cool grin

I would do a major tidy regardless of what the children threaten and then after that refuse to do it.  I would also refuse to feed them or do their washing unless the house is kept in a reasonable state.  It’s either that or buy a cat per room because sooner or later the mice will invade lol!

James is nearly 10 and his pocket money is dependent on whether he makes his bed every day £1, clothes in the laundry basket every day £1 and he has to tidy his room every time I ask £1.  He gets 1 warning and then deducted a £1 for the task he didn’t do.  On the whole it does work, but there have been occasions where he had no money.  Unfortunately sounds like your children are too old.
