I’m getting a grip now of crocheting squares.  Last night I managed my first granny square and I changed colour!

What I want to know is what happens with yarn ends.  Both the books I have say weave in the yarn ends immediately but don’t explain how.  Does this mean you tuck them under stitches as you go along - which I can’t see how you would do, or do you get out a sewing needle and weave them in like you would yarn ends in knitting?

You can do either way. It saves you messing about at the end if you weave them into the sts as you go along, but it is a case of do what you feel is easiest for you. Personally, I weave them in as I go along. Same as you would when knitting.

Do you know, I hate not being at home to be able to pick it up and see if I can do it!  I need to leave knitting and crocheting at work lol!

Thanks Gill

You can alos stitch over the ends for abit...lay the thread end ontop of the stitches you’ll be working into, and as you put the hook thu the stitch and grab the working wool, it will go round the dropped non working wool as well. Hope this makes sense.I would do maybe four or five stitches around the end bit..then when i go back..I give it a gentle tug and snip!

Thank you both!  I tried this last night and of course, it was just so obvious, I don’t know how I didn’t work it out before!

At least I know now that when I grow up I want to crochet a blanket like Granny Gill’s! wink
