Hi Jan
here’s how to create a wrapped stitch:

- Slip the next stitch to be worked onto the right hand needle without working it and then bring the yarn from the back to the front of the work (or from the front to the back if you are working a purl row) then slip the unworked stitch back onto the left needle and turn your work. Ensure the yarn is now in the correct position - either to the front or back, depending on whether you are knitting or purling - and continue. The unworked stitch will now have a horizontal bar of yarn wrapped around it.

Hope this helps!

HI Sarah,
Many thanks. When you explain it it seems so easy.
I should really have known it as I have been knitting for about 50 years but couldn’t remember. You are an angel many many thanks, now I can get on with the socks.

Hi, thanks for clearing up the wrap stitch stuff - my local knit shop couldn’t even tell me what it was! but, I did find it later in the magazine in the Greta pattern.
Although I’ve been knitting for a long time, I’ve never attempted socks before, however I am now one sock down and one to go !
