Hi everyone, I’m Liz. I live in Bradford but from Harrogate.

I’ve been a member since last month and have tried desperately to read all the posts but not quite there yet!

I’m an knitting addict and proud to declare it!!

I’ve been addicted since my gran introduced me back in 1978/79...disgraceful behaviour on her part. I now need regular fixes each day. Luckily I have the stash to keep me going...!

As it’s my birthday on saturday (34) my lovely fella has bought me a subscription to the LK mag (fed up trying to hunt it out each month-and yes I would love back issues!) He is also taking me shopping on Saturday to buy MORE STASH!!!!

Liz

Welcome to the forum and I too am an addict, not just knitting but all things related, patterns, yarn, LK and other mags, needles and I’m trying to resist but buttons are also drawing me in partly I think because they are so easy to stash as they take up no room.
My hubby however is not as indulgent or understanding as yours. Tolerant is a word I would use and very occasionally hostile.
As for trying to read all posts, be warned it seriously reduces your knitting time.
Ooppss hope I haven’t come over all scary and obbsessive there. Please my smileys aren’t working so I can’t wink and soften it a little. smile

Hi ladies

Yes I think buttons are about the only thing I’m not overindulgent with...not to say I don’t have any and not to say that I haven’t got a clue what I’m going to do with them......

Magazines also...why is it that for years all we had was the occasionally nasty sweater in womens mags, then suddenly BOOM! I now subscribe to 4 UK knitting mags (inc my new subscription to LK) but I’m going to drop one of them cos, to be honest it’s rather boring and so are the patterns. Thank goodness I have this to replace it!

I think the system is dodgy at the minute cos when I posted my initial intro it kept saying failed...but when I came out of it...there was my post!

Hi Liz!

Not far from you actually, I’m in Middlesbrough up the road.

I’ve just joined here myself about half an hour ago!

Looks like I’m going to be spending a bit too much time on here, whoops!

Take care and have fun x

Middlesbrough has only one yarn shop in the town centre, bad really considering it’s a big town. They only mainly stock Wendy and Patons yarns so a bit limited.

Of course there is the internet but it’s not the same as having a proper browse in a shop and getting a feel of the materials, comparing yarns side to side etc

Online shopping is great when you know exactly what you want, but you can’t beat touching and looking at yarn. We’re going to Hobbycraft for my bday stash. In Bradford I wouldn’t have a clue where to go, we’ve trawled all over looking for shops which were in the Yellow Pages, but weren’t there when we found the address. There is a mill but I was VERY disappointed when we went to look round. Over priced and smelly.

Harrogate has a lovely shop, but whenever I’m free after work it seems to be shut. Our local market has a wool shop but nothing special.

I have to say York is the best place I know for yarn shopping, or at least caressing the lovely soft yarn whilst it tries to seduce you into buying it!!
