Has anybody else tried knitting up their stash of plastic carrier bags?  I’m half way through mine as I’m only using hues of blue carrier bags.  It’s a good standby if (god forbid) any of us ran out of stash of yarn..

did you cut the bags into strips? how wide did you make them? I was thinking about plaiting some of mine to make garden ties, but I tend to use them to clean up after my dog smile

Having had some plastic bags disintegrate in my cupboard recently...NO..they were bio degradable so you could find your shopping on the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would use spare wool instead. LOL

Thanks fo the advice Gill.  The bags I’ve use are more like the kind you get catalogue deliveries from Next or the likes.  The novelty would probably wear off by the time the bags start to waste away.  I am of course being green and refusing bags when I can.

In answer to Suse query - you remove the handles and cut the bag in to a strip (round & round) like peeling an apple in one strip if you know what mean!

Must dash to get ready for work.  Thank God it’s Friday.  This weekend I’ll either start my socks or a felted bag, decisions, decisions.

Tata for now
