GOOD MORNING HEIDI.
I am glad you enjoyed the chat but dont let it put you off. My stint as an army wife was 40 years ago and things are slightly better now. I do say “slightly” as reading some of the reports seem to indicate that there could still be problems for the wives. there is a difference as well between regiments and corps. The BOYFRIEND is in a corp. so he will not have the same problems as someone in a regiment as he can be more of an individual. You do have to have a certain sympathy and understanding for the mans job when he is a service man that is different to “civvie st” but then it is not for life.
HWN has had a read of your post and said the only time he went to Paderborn was when they had a parade for the QUEEN in 65 and he and his mates lived in the stables and tents and the horses got treated better than they did!!!! They were on parade at o7.00 and the Queen came at 14.00 and over 700 men passed out because of the heat. The Queens birthday parade is always in June and that year was a scorcher!!!
Give you man our regards and tell him the old soldiers never forget.!

tongue wink tongue wink

NESSA you know what these young flibbertygibberts are like on t,forum, they start you off with a question and before you know where you are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have got SPLOL on the case but I think coffee is needed to get some steam up.  I can,t get on too well with bamboo pins anyway. Bit too flimsy for me.  LOL

Me too!  I traipsed around the shops today looking for 6.5 mm DP needles.  The woman in the market wool shop looked at me strange, they don’t go that big, she said!
I ordered a complete set from the Bamboo knitting needles centre on the strength of the sign posting amidst this thread. grin

I suppose really anything different from actual knitting chat ought to be on the NEEDLES ASIDE thread but I think we are all such diverse chatterboxes it doesn,t really matter what goes where. We can just troll through the threads until we get what we are looking for and enjoy other things on the way.  tongue wink

It is amazing what you can learn from this forum anyway. Perhaps your lady on the market could be persuaded to join, then she might learn more about what she is selling.  wink

Your right Gill...I don’t know how many different sites I have visited relating to knitting that have come from folk on this site...I love it.  I’m just waiting for my needles to pop through the door any day...Lise said hers did not take long...I hope I catch the postie in time....don’t want him bending my lovely new needles by forcing them through the letter box gulp he’s a lovely lad but a bit of a pillock at times with what he manages to bend and squeeze rather than knock on the door.... grrr

Before we go off on another tangent can i just say NATALIE I have started using the bamboo needles. I wanted a no brainer project on Tues night for Waking the Dead so cast on a stripey jacket for one of the boys. They seem ok so far, a little bendy compared to metal pins but maybe I’m a bit heavy handed. I’ll persevere with them though and keep you posted. xx
