High gang. Dare not stay on as well lets say for last two days my house as been a shame to me. So today I vowed not to come on.
SO CHAT TO YOU ALL PROB SUNDAY AS MY ELDEST BIRTHDAY TOMARROW.
So no chats or knitting. But loads of fun and good day with my son. Sorry to say Knitting but youve lost out to a 7 year old.

NO WHY I AM ON I AM DEAD PROUD I HAVE DONE IT I HAVE MASTERED DPNs.
Well i do not know if it is right but it does look to me.
I am knitting nothing and not even marking where first row is. All i want is at mo was to do it. balance those 3 needles and just knit.
AND YES I HAVE DONE.
last few nights i have been doing a couple of rows and frogging but this after thought blow it have some left over yarn and just keep knitting with this no patrtern no aim for anything just getting use to it. AND I HAVE DONE IT.

Still need to know few bits work on a few more. BUT I HAVE DONE IT.

one question… When starting at first few rows you have to balance the needles or else they pull the wool inbetween each pin but as ive got up i see that i do not have to as they are staying together...IS THIS RIGHT?

If so i am so happy and glad i worked up and have kept at it.

SO ANYONE READING KEEP AT IT.

ALSO ARE YOU READY I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING OUT FOR ALL THOSE WHO NEED TIGHT STITCHES AT BEGINNING OF EACH PIN. HERE I FOUND THIS OUT.

when you knit do you knit into the stitch from the front of the row?
I did i think this was right..
But on one line i forgot and knitted into from the side so like i was coming from the back of the previous pin.
AND HAY PRESTO I HAVE TIGHT STITCHES LAST AND FIRST OF EACH PIN.
I still pull a little on the stitche put it is worked
I thought let you know as noticed people been asking this. Do not know if others have already found this out.
Sorry to say that I do have a ladder but am working on this so let you know when that problem is solved.

SORRY TO GO ON BUT AM DEAD DEAD EXCITED I HAVE DONE IT AND DEAD PROUD.
I wanted to crack it by july so i could use it on my sock workshop but i have doen it in a day.
Now maybe I will have some socks to wear in July.

sorry for going on but i am so happy.

Also I wanted to share tip with you.
Take care love Nicci xxxxxx

Well done! I’ve yet to completely master DPNs - when it comes to socks I either stick to straight needles or venture into two-circs territory.

Do let us see what you’ve made when you finish it!

What are DPNs?

DPN’s are double pointed needles, they are usually quite short about 15 cm long and you use them 4 or 5 at a time. You keep one needle to knit with, spread the stitches evenly over the remaining needles and when you knit it makes a tube rather than a flat piece of work.

when I tried a few weeks ago I found I couldn’t balance the needles until there were a few rows done so I held them together in a bunch while I got started. I’m going to check out the youtube video though to improve my technique.

I know what you mean I am still a long way off But the socks and scarf are going to have to wait for a few days I need more practise, I am addicted to more practise.

Now I have been knitting back and forth on circuler. Well if i can master these then circulers look out.

come in a set of 4 or 5 and you use three or four with stitches on and spaire you knit with in the shape of triangle or square. then there is no sewing at end of your finished work.

Oh, Don’t really know what to say without sounding big headed, but i’ve been knitting socks for years now using a set of 5 needles! Didn’t know there was any other way! (Also didn’t know that these needles had a special name)
The first few rows are a bit tricky, but after that it holds itself together.

Thanks for the explanation though. Used to knit a lot, but then got busy with other things. Now starting with a simple jumper (Candy, issue 5).

and now you know they are called DPN’s! There’s lots of acronyms and abbreviations used on forums, feel free to ask!
