Hello knitters! I am back in with knitting as a way of getting a sense of achievement ,making something useful or good to look at, and for trying to get rid of some of the days stress!
I am 48, married ,with two sons. One is 23 and lives in Jersey ( no he is not mega rich!) He lives and works there now. The other lad is just 18 a few weeks ago and is a student. He is off to University in September. My husband works long hours, 5 x12 hour shifts a week, so I have some time on my hands in the early evening!
I work full time aa a family learning worker for the local council. It is interesting but can be quite stressful keeping everyone happy, including the people who fund the work, and pay my wages! Some of the things we do include family craft sessions, either for just a day or for longer. I really enjoy those, and its surprising how many people want to be able to knit, sew, crochet etc. A lot of people say they have never been shown how, or even seen anyone close to them do these things. This looks a really interesting site. I hope I have done this properly as Im not that good at Ict stuff!!!
Hello Dawn, I joined the forum yesterday and its like friends popping round without you having to empty the bins, clean the toilet or vac the cat hair off the chairs!!!( Dont all frown you fellow LKers, I know we all do it)

Welcome Dawn! Those craft days DO sound like fun!
Yup Yecart it is just like having friends round...although I don’t bother with emptying the bins etc (my excuse is I can’t physically do that stuff and the carers forget unless I’ve asked them to do it for the last 5 days ) However, real live friends round is also fun - I have a mate Jillian who loves knitting and crochet (must get her to teach me that when I’m not engrossed in the latest knitting project....) and she and her partner come back to mine after wheelchair dancing most Thursdays… it’s great just sittting, kneedles clacking, Neil (her partner) moaning and trying his best to make us drop our stitches… (Oh he also cooks and often does the evening meal for us all - knew he was useful for something.... )
Still, it is great being able to just turn the computer on, and come on here at a moment’s whim, and yes it is easier to turn the computer off when I’ve had my daily dose than it is to get Neil to behave and keep quiet!

hello Dawn welcome to the forum! I hope you get lots of inspiration from this site for your craft group. I like LK because it small projects, and you might find these good for your group, it will encourage people if they know they can finish something fairly easily.
Do you get to visit your son on Jersey? I would love to visit there, it looks so lovely.
dropee stitchee-yeah the craft days are a good laugh usually and a good way to spend a day! Its amazing to see people walking out with a bag of wool and a smile on their faces! Tell Neil to keep up the good worjk with the dinners, thats what I like to see a well trained male!
I do get to see James over there in Sunny Jersey, its cheaper than you might think and only takes half an hour flying from Coventry. He hasnt got his own place yet though, and lodges on a farm. So we stay in B+B nearby. It is a lovely place and nicer weather usually than here. He sends me texts saying he is off to the beach for a walk, as Im scraping the ice off the car ( bless him)
I have tried to get the hang of crochet but need to sit with someone I think and look over their shoulder. My Nan was a wicked crocheter and made lots of stuff for me but lived in Lincolnshire so we didnt see her that ofen. I still have the things she made, and have all her needles and stuff, so one day........
