aww thank-you, i used to knit alot of the greenhowe clowns when i was in my teens, knitting gifts for kids is probably what i enjoy most....although i hate stuffing them, i find it hard to get the amount and shaping right!

has anyone tried the baby shoes in the current LK issue? might give them a go next.

Thanks Sophie grin

I just fancied doing some nice brights (im trying to do a rainbow striped pair now) really quick to knit and uses up all the wee bits in the stash that wouldnt suit much else.

i wasnt sure what people would make of them (not being traditional pastels) but i cant seem to make them quick enough!

Your right there Suse...when my Polish DIL was expecting Maya we knew it was a girl and I knitted dozens of things in white and pink and cream.  When I took them over she asked me why all the white etc..and I explained that we in the UK traditionally put our babies in whites and pastels (remember Suse I am just a year off 60) She absolutely loved them but as there were so many matinee jackets and cardi’s she sent some home with her mum to Poland and they went to an orphanage in her town.  So since then I have knitted lots more little pastel things to go to the Polish orphanage...BUT for Maya everything is brightly coloured now.
I learned just afterwards that white is a mourning colour in some countries so thank goodness it wasn’t in Holland or Poland or I had made a big mistake. confused

My DIL is in her late 30’s and remembers the dull colourless Poland of her childhood where she told me it was difficult to get baby clothes never mind what colour they were.

you sound like such a kind soul Oma smile and Maya is such a beautiful name!

i love seeing babies in bright colours....but sometimes its nice to keep them in white/pastels for the first wee while, although some of the baby stuff out there is so hard to resist, i find little jeans and dungarees adorable, but my sister hates them....she is definately a pastel girl

I remember my mum being horrified when I bought the cutest red and black dennis the menace style long sleeved T shirt for Leigh-Ann when she was about 6 months old. She also had some black cords to go with it.
