Hi Laura
No but I have tried Really old, My mums and local shop bought alaminium, cheep basic plastic, Bamboo, Wood, then ivor swollow. Then last few weeks i have been replasing all mine with Addi Turbo Circular and even straight Addi. And I am in love with these and my knitting.
SHOWS THE OLD ONES ARE THE BEST WELL FOR ME.
This is all thanks to the metalic double pointed that where free with issue3 of TOP MAG LETS KNIT. I can not wait for next fridays lets knit More alliminium and cool ones. WE NEED 4MM AND LESS IF YOU ARE READING THIS.
So you are to blame i told my bank manager
I have fallen in love with alliminium and Addi ones not because there cool and fashionable, well maybe there circular ones are. No i fell in love because they give me tight neat stitches, even tension and boy are they fast to work on. And they are not cold like people said alaminium ones are. I can feel them heat up in my hands as i am knitting.

I would not give up my Addi Allinium for millions of pounds (well maybe till i have spent the millions on yummy yummy yarn.)

And I bet you would not give up you latern moons. but would you get the yarn first?

Keep happy knitting everyone. wink

I can only use the bamboo or plastic needles as the metal ones are heavy and hurt my hands.

I’m usually an aluminium girl - I find I work a lot quicker and neater on shiny needles! Though I do have a set oif Knit Picks Options (and a set of Knit Picks DPNs) in wood and they’re soooo pretty smile

I have heard lots of really great things about Addi Turbo needles. I am consicdering venturing into two socks at once for the very first time and I am going to invest in a one of the Addi Turbo circular needles - I figure getting the right tools for the job would be a good place to start...but then when I do get in a huge tangle I will only have myself to blame!

I have just got some bamboo noodles to use for babycashmerino so that the yarn doesn’t slide about too much, but I bought some Extreme knitting needles at the SECC at the weekend, and these could hold up a tent! they are 75 cm long and have a circumference of 24mm. I did a test run with a pair at Rachel John’s stall and it was a lot of fun.
In the photo I’ve put them beside a normal sized pair of 8mm. I will have muscles like a shot putter when I use these

Hi Laura
Yes you are right getting the right tools does help. Though my partner says when i balme the tools cause my knitting is not going right YOU CANT BLAME THE TOOLS. but look at Gordon ramsey i can’t see him using market bought pans or knifs or what about David Becham using cheep football boots. So why should we knitters seetle for second best. We also need the right tools.

Also i thought that I would get in a tangel with circular ones and I did when I bought bamboo no named 2000 foot long circular needles. there that says it all.

No the nack is that they will only knit one way when knitting back and forth with out feeling stange. I do this alot with mine. I am going to try knitting the rounnd on my next project. I just need to get the feel for them and them me first
But either way I love using these for everything, back and forth hats scarfs jumpers toys.

So go on laura get some.
I have not used the knit picks would love some though but i am so happy with mine and i think once you get comfortable with a make and get them to work right for you and know tham and they know you you just cant change as you have to start all over agin. So get some know before you get started. But Knit picks are loads cheeper £40.00 a set at Get Knitted.
Let me know what you end up doing. But all i can say I will not go back. Wish bought them before would have saved a fortune amount of needles bought and tried. Een bought some for fashion reasons. Then spent it on wool.

I love my bamboo needles, but that is so that I can knit longer without causing too much pain in my hands. Every so often I will change to circular needles, just because the technique is different and a change is as good as a rest. grin

Hi Nicola
Thanks I ll have to keep at it with my bamboo ones or keep to my addi turbo so that they will then get use to me and me them.
I think that is why my fingers hurt so much yesturday even to touch as i spent 11 hours or more on and off knitting sunday and just under on saturday.
So Ill get out my bamboos and dust them off.
I do have some swallow that i adore so i think they need to come out also I have missed them so much.
Thanks again Nicola you are so helpful. wink

I had loads of cheap old needles that I had picked up in the charity shop.  Then I invested in two addi turbos for doing magic loop and knitpicks options interchangeable (because I am shallow and they looked pretty) and I won’t use anything else.  I am replacing all my old ones with them.  Knitpicks for anything above 3.5 and addis for everything else.  I really really love them.  I am thinking of trying the knitpick harmony wood ones but I don’t know whether to bother as I am not keen on bamboo needles.

I have not used those but have your tried the Namaste glass knitting needles?  They are pure luxury.
