no no no they are in one of my “vintage” books that I was perusing at the weekend.!! I just thought I would give all those potty s.....fetishists a treat!! Iam really very nice like that
Re - sock fetishists - on very cold winter days I will sometimes deliberately come downstairs in the brightly coloured striped slip-proof sock/slippers that my daughter bought me as a silly pressie once, just to walk round the house and tease hubby! the type with all the separate different coloured toes that I can wiggle at Brian (hubby) ‘cos it makes him cringe. He hates them with a vegeance, Gill1946. Because he hates them so much I don’t wear them often, only when it is thick with frost outside. I have been known to threaten him with them if he gets too far out of line though!

Yes and we all know what’s kept on the high shelves don’t we. and we are NOT talking GIN.
THE MAGIC BUCKET. lives on the top shelf and the sweet fairy lives up there with it. If the grandkids are good we make a wish and the magic bucket fairy fills it up with goodies..... why cant No2 daughter get the idea???? no wonder they love to come to Grandma,s I am as daft as them!!!!!!
THE sherry and stuff is under the sink.....easier for a lol to reach after “HWN” has gone to bed!!!!!!!!
I’ve just purchased a sock kit and it’s scared me. Where do I start? What’s waste yarn!! Why have I got a set of cocktail sticks to work with
I’ve knitted, crocheted, macrame, embroidered, made clothes & home furnishings etc etc since I was a child. I can turn my hand to anything but I’ve never made a pair of socks!!!

Mandicraft, the warmest of welcomes to the mad house!
I’m about 90% though my first sock and I know just how you feel.
Please feel free to PM me as I have loads of sock knitting related sites “favourited” [is that a word?] that will help; don’t want to bore the afficianados (No! Not you Gill! We all know you how you feel about s...knitted foot garments!)
Hi mandicraft, welcome to the forum and please do what Gill said introduce yourself on the introductions thread so you can have the royal welcome we try to give everyone.

Help
Hello Mandicraft...welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I’m not a sock knitting fan so can’t help you with your kit instructions but there are lots of people here who will be able to help. I’m a bit like you and have knitted for over thirty years but have not knitted socks since I was at school and have never had any notion to do any again
Someone will pick up on your post soon and help will be on its way...don’t worry. Enjoy the forum and happy knitting with your sock kit.
with sock knitting you sort of have to put your logical mind out of the wind and just follow the pattern as you reach each bit. If you read ahead it makes no sense the first time you do a sock.
But soon you’ll be zipping across those needles. I love knitting socks, turning the heel, making the gusset and watching people cringe as I work with all 5 needles lol. Makes my crochet friend go all sorts of funny colours lol.
I’d love to have a go at some socks if someone can suggest a suitable pattern for a beginner? Stripes would be good (if that wouldn’t be too complicated?)
I inherited loads of needles from my Nan last year and I always wondered why she’d got a pack of 5 cable needles - now I know!
Hi, I’ve just tried to post a reply with some links on it but for the forth time today my pc isn’t letting me. Just google free sock knitting patterns and you will find hundreds of links to sites that you can download or print from to your foots content.
I’m new to the world of sock knitting, I’ve found this pattern really nice and easy as it’s simple and uses 2 needles. I’ve made 2 pairs now and I soon I’ll feel ready to tackle 4/5 needles. http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTsoxon2stix.html
