I have just treated myself to a knitting book called ‘Blankets and Throws to Knit’ by Debbie Abrahams. It has the most gorgeous pictures… lots of beautiful squares… colourful ones for a seaside theme with beach huts, ice cream cones and sailboats. It has very grown up ones with plain, self-coloured squares but with the addition of beads incorporated and raised patterns. Ideal if you want a small knitting project to take with you somewhere.. a square can be done on small needles, and I put mine into a pretty, silk-lined drawstring bag I just made, and it fits into a larger bag I often have with me on days out, also containing a book, water, iPod, crystals for safe travelling, water and biscuits.

I’ve got a great book called ‘200 knitted blocks, for blankets, throws and afghans’ by Jan Eaton and it’s perfect for all that spare yarn people have lying around.

The cheapest I’ve seen the one in the OP was on the Rowan site.

I know because I’ve been waiting on someone listing it on ebay for a while (along with 25 more ...) as my library copy is due to go back really and there’s nothing like having your own copy
