I went and bought Jean Greenhows Christmas Special two days ago and paid £4.99.  Today I went into St Francis Hospice charity shop and picked up the following for 10p each.

Jean Greenhows Clowns,
“ “ Teddy Bears
“ “ Jemima Jane & Friends
“ “ Duck Family and Friends
“ “ The Scarecrow Collection
“ “ Topsy Turvey Dolls

I could not believe my eyes when I saw them sitting on the shelf.  I whipped them up straight away.  There was a woman before me who had just walked away and she caught my eye at what she was looking at. The funny thing is I was standing in the doorway and saw her, I had no intention of going in cause the woman manager in there is a right stroppy *** and very rude to people.

Anyway, I was like a bull in a china shop and got my worldly goods.  They had a load of patterns in there, old ones, but nothing of my taste.

I have started knitting the santa stocking tonight and have started knitting my shawl so I should be occupied for a while.  I do intend to knit the topsy turvey dolls, i think they are unusual and sweet.

What do you think about that bargain then?

Love Sues

How lucky is that?  Good for you.  I think the charity shops in Wakefield must keep thier patterns etc under the counter, I’ve been in them all and never found a thing.

I rarely find a bargain in Wakefield and I don’t think much of the wool shop either. The one opposite the market street. long face

I recently found a big pile of old (2003ish) Rowan books in the Walthamstow Oxfam for 99p each.

My best find in that branch was two packs of Wendy Sharma in Lava Cave shade for £3.99 each.  That was 1000g of yarn for just under £8.
I am still happily admiring the precioussss while deciding what to do with it.

The Leyton branch of PDSA often has odd skeins of high quality yarns for less than a pound each.  While I am very hppy to snaffle up the bargains, I can’t begin to understand the mind of someone who gives this stuff away.

I am embarrassed to say many of my best finds are stashed away in my various yarn stash bags.  I take them out every now and again and reorganize (yes and do the whole Gollum thing) and procrastinate. lol

hi sue my hubby had an aunt who knitted all these kinds of dolls for all our kids when they were wee and they loves them.  The same aunt knitted Mr & Mrs Claus for my daughter when she was about 2 for Christmas and she is now nearly 17 and they come out every Christmas and go under the tree.  My kids have had a huge joy out of these books. gulp

It must have abeen a lucky day in the charity shops i picked up these bargains.  Went in Help the Aged today and got 2 balls of james Brett chunky marble 200g each for £1.49 a ball and then they had some navy chunky 50g balls for 49p got 12 of them for scarves and hats for Christmas.  Went in PDSA and got a soap making kit for £3.50 (might make some soap to go with my flannels ) Then went in habiknit and got my wool for the christmas stockings.  So all in all had a good afternoon.
