As i mentioned in another post i started ‘propper’ knitting again. I saw this pattern at Boyes and just needed to make it. Im using bright red..not normaly a colour i wear but I have a feeling the Winter wil be long enough and something bright may just be what will be needed

Gill...if you see me on a Bike watch out!!! I wear a bright barbie pink jacket and if I get this Jumper done I will be blinding the nation as I zoom past everyone. I already look much like a Blamanche on the back of a Bike....ROFL!!!
Nellie....that’s what I thought. If nothing else it will cheer me up as I wear it
Chris...Im certain she will so don’t let her see it...lol
Cheryl...It is already on Ravelry as well After the intial set up of the ribbing it’s going great.
I did say I was never going to knit and all Rib Adult top again but I just fell in love with it. I also know Im actually a little to Top heavy to wear something like that but what the Heck....Im going to wear it no matter what

Go for it Silvi!  I have to admit I have a pattern languishing in my stash that I printed off the Vogue site.  It’s a HEEEEEEUUUUUUUGE jumper full of cables and I love it but I have to get some serious skills under my belt and save a ton of money for the wool before I can ever make it.  But if I did it right, I’d never be out of the bloomin’ thing.  Must learn to cable!!!

This reminded me of something I’ve been meaning to ask, when you see a pattern and you like it, do you want to knit it in the colour it is in on the pattern? I’ve done a few when I’ve knitted for Freya and have chosen the same colour, (but I also have knitted stuff in different colours) just wonder if the colour the item is in sways us at all x Janet

I very rarely knit the colour on the pattern, unless it’s black. It’s the shape and the stitches that attract me.

Me too. Especially if the model is yellow. I cannot wear that colour AT ALL. sick But it is a favourite colour. Just NOT to wear.

I do quite often find myself knitting it in the same colour as the pattern, however when I knit for my friend’s daughter I do tend to change the colours because she has the most beautiful bright ginger curls so some colours would just look awful.

I never use the colours that the pattern is in and I have changed stitches. At the moment I am finishing a red cardi with a deep V but instead of making it in stripes or plain I ahve picked a pattern off of a baby jacket and put it on this one. Its a pattern I like and I know that no one else will have it.

Rowena, cables are very easy as long as you don’t panic. Knit a square with say twelve st row 1- k3 pl k4 p1 k3 knit all knit st purl all purl st on next and every alt row. row 3- k3, p1, put next 2 st on to cable needle and hold at front of work knit 2 from needle the 2 from cable needle, p1 k3. Now this is the easiest way to practice holding wool to front, or put the cable needle with 2 st to the back and its the same principle once you have mastered this you can do anything with cables. This is the simplest method to help you. Hope this gives you some encouragment to try it out.
