I would love to help, I’ve been thinking a lot about charity knitting lately. Thanks for posting this thread. I’ll hunt out patterns or look on the web and send things as and when I finish them. I don’t have loads of time to knit, but I’m sure every little helps.

Would love to help.  Does it matter what sort of yarn - i.e. wool, acrylic, whatever?

OO will certainly help, just in a few days when I’ve made some more hats; these will raise funds for help the aged.

I wondered the same but didnt want to ask.  my old teacher used to say there no such thing as a silly question, someone else will always want to know too - looks like he was right - I don’t know the answer though, I thought it might be something for the wee babe to be buried in, but that’s just a guess

I just found the answer in the knit pattern for newborns.  It like a sleeping bag with no arm holes and a hood

I have a quick question for ‘preemiesuk’.

I’ve just knitted my first preemie hat. I printed a pattern off the web and followed instructions for a small hat. It looks really cute and I’m pleased with it but.....

it looks so small. I did expect it to be small, but it’s sooooooo tiny. Can I check that the pattern is correct.

The finished hat is about 16cm circumference and 8.5cm tall. Does this sound right?

Can you recommend the best size? the pattern gives instructions for medium and large. Not sure which size is best?

Please help…

Yes the patterns are correct and they have been measured up by premature babies.

the small size fits prem babies from 22weeks pregnacy to 28weeks
med fits 30 weeks to 36 weeks
large fits 36weeks upwards

they do look tiny but you will be surprised as they actually stretch a bit

i hope this helps you

thank you

shelley
