I’ve just cast on Garnstudio & Drops design pattern 97-18 Tailored Cardigan knitted in Alpaca.
I’ve cast on 126 stitches. Pattern reads
Knit the 1st row from the WS and continue in stocking stitch throughout.
Now does that mean purl row 1, knit row 2 purl row 3 or knit row 1 knit row 2, purl row 3 or purl row 1 purl row 2 knit row 3??
This one has me baffled and I’ve been knitting for 35 years! Dementia of the knitting kind???

hi- to me that reads purl the first row, then knit row 2....etc in ss....
i apologise if its not! you cant really do that much damage in ss though can you?

Oh yes ... I’m sure Stacey is right ... that’s what I’d do ... I think they just mean start the stocking stitch from the wrong side, ie purl first.

Me too, im just starting a lovely bolero but to tell you the truth i ve printed off loads… very good patterns

I am knitting a bolero and i had to purl on the right side.
