Hiya

I’d like to make the Pedicure socks from the little sock booklet that came free with LK. I’ve never heard of Lightweight DK before though...Any ideas on where I can look? What’s the difference between lightweight and normal DK? Any particular makes/ranges that you recommend?

Thanking you all in advance! This will be the start of my christmas present making!

Nic

Probably any DK would be fine as long as the yardage/tension are the same.  You might want to go for a cotton or wool mix tho.  webofwool.co.uk has loads and loads so you migth want to try their website.

As they are pedicure socks I would think it would be cotton as any advice you get about socks its always to have cotton socks. Just like the saying “bless your cotton socks” they let your feet breathe. It might feel too harsh but if you get something with a higher cotton percentage to whatever you have as a mix to make them flexible.

Silk and bamboo are good for socks as well.

Hello!
I believe the pedicure socks are knitted in Artesano Hummingbird yarn - it is really soft and is perfect for socks!! Let us know how you get on, it would be great to see some pic of the FOs!

LOL!!
Sometimes it is so hard not to want to keep giftknits...I’m sure you could whizz up a couple of pairs, then you’d have one to keep and one to give!!

I’m not sure if that’s the correct yarn - is that what it says in the booklet? I’ve just made a note and written down the tension: 30sts/42 rows 4” on 4mm and that it’s lightweight DK - I’ve not got the booklet with me! I love the artesano hummingbird yarn but really need something that’s machine washable. I’m making these pedicure socks for a 14 year old so am expecting them to get some wear....
