Morning:-)

I got my copy of lets knit yesterday evening on the way home from work...hurray!

I want to knit the little slippers on page 71, a pair for me and a pair for my mum trouble is the pattern only goes up to shoe size 6...I’m a 7 and my mum is a 6.5.
How do I adjust the pattern to make bigger sizes?

PS - thanks for a fab mag!

Cheers

Hello and welcome, someone much cleverer than me will come along and help you, I think it will be a case of using bigger needles, but I’ll let the real pros tell you x Janet

I would agree with Janet - but I’m not an authority on these things!  One of the more experienced knitters on here will be able to answer that for you.

So, is there smoke coming off your needles then? LOL

Hi all

I have been having a look at the pattern and I would think you could add extra rows to the sole as it is knitted in one piece. If you add the extra in the centre then when you come to pick up the sts for the top you would add extra sts to accomodate the extra rows.

So.. if you added say 4 extra rows along the sole when you pick up for the top you would have to pick up 4 more..the extra row ends. Do you follow that??  LOL

You should probably add the extra rows after you have got to the 24st mark.

Hi girls, I tend to not always follow any pattern for sizing because we are all different shapes and sizes and some patterns do not take into consideration the bigger foot, butt or boobs.  When I made a pair of socks for my youngest Ross who is 14, and in a size 12 shoe, I roughly followed the pattern but added a few stitches and rows here and there.  They came out great and he wears them all the time. I measured them against his foot regularly too.

I also work out what the average stitches or rows are from the different sizes.  Hope that makes sense.

Love Sues

P.S. Not been on the forum much the past few weeks, am knackered with trying to get the decking completed and treated before this weather gets any worse.  Am hoping tomorrow is going to be a dry day so we can get straight.

Hi
I knitted a very similiar pattern recently and all you did to change size was add extra rows after toe shaping.did not affect any other part of pattern.I have not had chance to look at pattern but sure it will be the same.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the info and tips. I will be having a go after I’ve finished 2nd sock of a pair. Casted it on last night and aiming to complete this week (crosses fingers). Needles are smoking! as I need to get birthday and Christmas pressies sorted!

Thanks for all your help,
Tinyclanger:-)

All my female in-laws have big feet, even my SIL who married into the family as well as me is a size 8. They all call me weird because I’m a “common” size 5.
