I love listening to audiobooks and podcasts when I’m knitting ( maybe the Lets knit team could do a podcast too?). I listened to Cranford as I enjoyed the BBC series so much, then North & South ( also by Mrs Gaskell), then Persuasion ( Austen) the most contemporary one was “We need to do something about Kevin” by Lionel Shriver which was about a woman coming to terms with her son committing mass murder at his(US) High School . It was a bit harrowing, but absolutely riveting.

That sounds like a really good book - there is nothing better than listening to an audiobook while knitting! I might also venture into the world of podcasts too!

I listen to audiobooks a lot too. I ususally watch tv while knitting, but when i’m spinning I find I have to watch my hands a lot more intently, so I often listen to stuff then.

Recently I listened to Richard Dawkins’ ‘The God Delusion’...all 13 hours of it in a couple of days while spinning, a couple of bbc radio plays, and at the moment i’m on john grisham’s ‘the appeal’

I love listening to audiobooks and podcasts.  Not just when I am knitting.  I also listen when cleaning, driving, shopping, etc.  I have just finished an audiobook by the yarn harlot and I am half way through ‘Outlander’ and can’t wait to start ‘The Knitting Circle’.

Ditto! House chores are much better when you have an audiobook on the go! I really love listening to fiction - there is really nothing better than having someone reading to you!

Hi

A friend of mine has just starting doing knitting podcasts on the internet and I’ve listened to these- partly as she interviewed a few people at the knitting group I go to! They’re really interesting- you should go and look. Her site is

I’ll definately have a look at that Katie.  I really like knitting podcasts.  Because of where I live I don’t get any chance to meet up with other knitters and the podcasts make me feel a bit more included in the knitting world grin

Just finished listening to all of your friends podcasts Katie and really enjoyed them.  I’ve put them into my zencast subscriber so i’ll keep getting them.  Hope she keeps doing them.

podcasts are fab!
You’ll find a button on the blog down on the right hand side which is the link to the podcast using either i-tunes, google, yahoo or other. I’ve just clicked on the yahoo button and added this to my homepage, which will allow me to download the podcast to my mp3 ( doesn’t have to be an i-pod, can be any brand).
It will also let me know when new feeds ( programmes) are available. Don’t worry Tanna I only learnt how to do this 3 weeks ago.
If you haven’t got an mp3 you can save it to your hard drive and listen to it through your pc.

Hi, thanks for this Katie, I’ve listened to the first couple of them over the last couple of days and have enjoyed them. Hoping to catch up with the rest of them soon. I would have said thanks sooner but I couldn’t remember which thread it was on and have just stumbled across it again. smile

I`ve just started listening to podcasts & found Knittynora & listened to her, I enjoyed it. At the moment I am listening to Lime & Violet, they are two american ladies & by the sound of them they have a lot of fun.

I bought an i-pod a couple of weeks ago partly for the music but also because I had heard that they were good for audio books. I’ve only put one on so far and I haven’t quite had the chance yet to listen but the plan is to get some serious knitting sone while listening. I’m more of a thriller fan so it’s a Stephen King book.
Haven’t listened to a podcast yet but I think I’ll add it to my list of things to work out, like uplodaing photos. I’m sure it’s straight forward but I just need to sit and make myself do it. Always seem to have something else to do!
