Does anyone use a special lamp when they’re knitting? My OH doesn’t really like having the light on whilst watching telling but I want to knit and can’t see a blimming thing! Can anyone recommend a light that I can have sort of reaching over the arm of the chair so it illuminates my work and not the whole room - does this make sense??

I use a daylight bulb in a floor reading lamp. it really helps to see to knit at night...is a bit bright though if oh dosent like a light on....Alternatively cut the plug off the tv!!!!.....let no one stand in the way of your knitting!!!!!!!!!

I’ve seen daylight lamps that clip on to the arm of your chair/sofa or a table.  You can also use daylight bulbs in regular lamps.  You can usually find adverts in the knitting magazines.

I do find if I knit for too long OH gets a bit jealous and want me to stop knitting and just watch telly with him! But I CAN do both!!! I could pinch his camping head torch! Roll on Friday - I want my magazine, I even have the day of work so can dedicate the afternoon to reading and sock knitting - heaven! I’ve just knitted the heel of my first ever sock and am now making my way to the toe - how exciting he he he!

I LIKE YOUR STYLE!!

I have seen glow in the dark pins somewhere, but I usually put the side lamp on for me. Your OH shouldn’t watch the TV in the dark, he’s looking directy at a light source and in time it could affect his eyes (the cinema is different cos its not straight at the projector)

I have no such problem at all as hubby is always piddling about doing things and wants a lamp, ‘big’ light and lamp at back, (no wonder leccy bill is high) anyway all been replaced with energy saving now, !!!!  x

We have a few normal lamps in the living room and I’m usually fine with those although I try to avoid knitting in black and other dark colours as then I do need big light on. Hubby is more bothered with clicking pins than the light. Between me on one side and the gurgle of the fishtank on the other we are slowly driving him potty. It might take a while but I’ll get him there in the end LOL  tongue wink

We only have wall lights in our house downstairs, ceilings v. low with beams, so I have nabbed right side of the settee as my knitting place, and the rest of it is covered with mags, wool, needles, etc! Did have a light that clamped on, but lost in cupboard at the moment! Must dig it out

I recently bought a bunk bed light, I think from Homebase which is a halogen light that clips on to anything and it’s anglepoise too so you can point it straight on your work.  The boys didn’t use it, so I have clipped it to the bookcase and it now lights up my knitting beautifully without casting too much extra light anywhere else.  It was only about £15.
