Welcome to the forum Emma...see you have had lots of feedback from some of the others...we’re a friendly bunch on here and there is always lots of help around when needed.
Congratulations on your coming new baby and you must show us some piccies of your little boy when you can spare a minute.  I’m a granny and I love knitting for my little Dutch grand daughter....sometimes I think I knit too much for her and wonder if she has time to wear them all...but I love doing them anyway.  You sound like a very busy lady with your job and looking after your family so I hope you always get some time to knit and enjoy it.....enjoy the forum.

I wouldn’t bother - Sirdar’s website hasn’t been updated since 2006 I had a little looksy on Ravelry but it’s not listed.  Just enter Sirdar in your search engine and you should find a site.  Sorry can’t be more helpful, maybe someone else can.

You’re so right about Sirdar’s website Leigh...I wish they would do something about.  For the size of the company and all the new patterns and wools that they bring out the website is bad.  I have had to e-mail them on two occasions and never received any replies....I would not have expectd that of them.

Its a pity, they have lovely patterns out and they must be one of the popular names for patterns.

I would. They have been off my favourites since the wool shop in Doncaster closed. I always seem to have a problem with their patterns. But that could be me.  cheese

I told you about the Sirdar baby bamboo I bought in the wool shop in Penrith on our way home from York Gill....well I am almost finished the sweater and am very disappointed in the wool.  I have used six ball so far (one to go) and in two of them there were no fewer than three tied knots and in the other two ball there were two tied knots.  So I am wondering if the last ball will have knots too.  There wool is not cheap at full price and it’s bad that so many knots are found as you knit along a row.
When I have e-mailed Sirdar for other things I have never received any answers from them…

I have noticed knots in all types of wool in recent years, Nessa. I find it really aggravating in the expensive stuff because you expect it to be perfect. I have had 99p stuff from Wilkinsons and there are no knots in that.
Maybe a phone call instead of e.mails as they cannot avoid a voice on the end of the phone as easily??

Sirdar is only the other side of Wakefield from me.  I’d phone them or write with your complaints.

Hello Emma, another one for the Yorkshire contingency !!!  We are taking over I think,!  I’m busy knitting things for my 10 month old grandaughter, who is below, hope you enjoy the forum, I actually rang sirdar once and they were very helpful so maybe a phone call is better than an email, x Janet

Oh Nessa and everything I said was out of experience!  Had a problem with a pattern, emailed the department, nothing back.  emailed again, still nothing - this all through the links on their (outdated) site.  When I got the hump (me, surely not!...) and emailed somebody else they claimed not to have had the mails and that the links on the site don’t work.  I really ranted then about how useless that is for a major company to treat its wool buyers like little people and ignore them, after all without us they’d be sunk. Needless to say this didn’t go down well and was denied, but if that’s how I felt it doesn’t matter how much he protests does it?

So ner de ner de ner de.

raspberry

I didn’t put a raspberry on the Sirdar man’s mail BTW.

I’ve now sat down and typed up a letter and it’s going by post..recorded delivery this morning.  That way someone has to sign for the letter.  I’m not giving up Lleigh...I’m so fed up with them.  I just can’t believe a major wool company like Sirdar have not updated their website in more than two years and blame that on links not working so they don’t receive their e-mails.  Surely their link should get them no matter what link it’s from.  I shall wait with anticipation to see if I get any response from my recorded delivery letter. rolleyes

I hope you get this before you post your letter, Nessa.  I had an email from Dave Higgins, but he hasn’t put his title down, but he said my comments were being passed to one Russell Morris, MANAGING DIRECTOR.  Hope you can alter your letter easily so it goes to him.  Good luck, I suspect you’ll need it.  Wonder if we should forward a link to them for this thread?....

Thanks for that Leigh...I’m going to use that information and change the letter.  Thank God for computers.....hopefully the letter will get into the right hands and I will get a response...thanks for telling me.  I’ll let you know.

What a good idea about sending them the thread link…

Well maybe if they can see it’s not just me and Nessa who are “disatisfied” with their site/customer service (to put it very mildly!) maybe something might get done?  Don’t anybody hold their breath tho cos I suspect I could be rsponsible for a gaggle of dead knitters if you do and I don’t want that on my conscience.... oh oh
