I’m sorry but with as many to buy for as we have, lots of nieces and nephews as well as four kids ourselves we can’t afford to leave it all til the end of the year, it’s just too expensive and also after we had Zakk we quickly found out pushchairs and christmas shopping aren’t compatible. The shops stick so much cr*p in the aisles you can’t get round with a pushchair one of us would end up waiting in the middle row whilst the other walked up and down and would have to pick stuff up and wave it around for the other to see. Nowadays if I’m not finished by the end of November I tend to get a little panicky. I don’t like putting my tree up until I’ve finished present shopping.
Besides I bought it from the book club sale at Max’s preschool just before they broke up. A Dr Who encylopedia for my nephew to go with the skull hat he wants me to knit him. That was my last chance to buy it as Max starts a different school Sept and they don’t have the same book club, it had £7.00 off the cover price.

Its different when you have kids and extended family to cover then it really does require good organisation! People like myself that dont have kids have it easy it seems! I wouldnt fancy dragging grumpy/tired kids into town pushchairs and all shock im sure you will be totally organised nicky, no need to panic at all! smile

Thanks for the answer about the shoe boxes, Nessa.  As you can imagine (with this being me!) I had all sorts of strange visions in my head!

Hi Leigh, I am only 10 minutes from Heathway and I go in Knitsew regular.  The only thing with him is if you only go in there for a pattern, he is offish with you. But if you go in and buy the wool, he will have a conversation with you.

Besides are you an essex bird too and do you know the Heathway then!

What do you think of the latest upgrade there.

Ah yes I am an Essex bird - as you so lovingly put it!! I used to live in Barking until 18 months ago when I moved to South Benfleet.  I was born in Goodmayes - lived in Cardigan Gdns til age 13 then moved to Chadwell Heath where I stayed til age 23 when I moved in with bf ( now hubby!).  We lived behind the Harrow PH.  Remember when you had your nasty incident with that lout and your car?  You posted on here about it so I knew you lived in Dagenham!  I used to go in Knitsew when my nan lived at the Heathway - back when it was the two shops!  I have bought in there many times - cards for my embroidery machine, wool patterns etc and he’s never been ofish with me - but then I have never spent less than a tenner in that shop as far as I can remember red face

Running out of laptop battery! hope will be able to finish post…

Not seen Heathway since revamp.  Is it very Chav?  Knowing LBB&D;(very well) it prob is!

luv u n leave u sorry!

What do you think of the latest upgrade there.

Cor GG if I didn’t KNOW better I’d have been right miffed at that!!  As Nicky said on another thread - I sometimes don’t do my reputation any good by some of my postings - but you don’t know me so don’t know what I’m like normally. I just like to have a laugh, with you all.  If for a minute I thought anybody would be laughing AT me I would never come back here again.  And yes GG that is a promise!!!!

SORRY...just could’nt help it. cool smirk

Yes I can imagine Leigh LOL  Our church sometimes do the boxes too and we fill them with all sorts of stuff like soap toothpaste talc body lotions for the girls hankies and we try to put in some toys if it’s a child’s box or baby stuff for infants...just all sorts of things we take for granted.  Some boxes are for adults and some for children and you always mark on the box you have filled who it is suitable for. When we started doing it about ten years ago it really made me think just how comfortable my life is and how much is taken for granted.

Hi
I knit dishcloths when want to fill in time. When I first saw dishcloth patterns and heard of people that are mad about knitting them I thought (I apologise)what sad people. But one day I don’t know why I knitted one.My partner raves about them.He says saves us a fortune in cloths cos they are so hard wearing. They last for ages. There are hundreds of patterns and designs out there.Once mastered basic patterns then you can try double knitting-knitting 2 colour yarns so one colour on each side.I can’t explain it so look it up if you are interested.Soz no help. Also illusion knitting-you only see design at certain angles.
Just an idea without knowing what your interests are.
By the way I am opposite I have whole notebook full of future knitting projects and a box of yarn and patterns ready to go but no time to knit them.Lucky if manage 2 rows a day sometimes.
Good Luck

Hi Leigh, the Heathway has changed a lot now. They took all the trees away and the shrubs.  They have just started knocking down the Church Elm Pub and the little hut next to it.  Its going to be a one stop shop for the council apparently.

Anyway, I decided after looking through my patterns and asking family if they want anything to knit, to pick up my cross stitch for a while.  Its a poetry sampler with a lazy cat at the top.  Will put it on here if you want to see.  The cat is nearly finished.

Was going to get more done tonight but sister in law wants a leg massage so will be going there in a mo.

Have a good evening, speak later.

cor it sounds like they’re trying to give it a right old tart up!  IF council putting an office in there it makes you wonder what’s going to happen to the oother offices doesn’t it…

Enjoy your giving a massage - I’d love to see the sampler btw, but I’m going to be off forum for about 3 weeks as of tonight so no rush!  look after yourself.
Love
Leigh
