I haven’t fallen asleep during the knitting yet but I suspect it’s on the cards. It seems to me that the regular movements produced by a pattern sort of lull me and I feel my eyes start to close.  I manage to bring myself back for a bit but not too long.  Depending on how iminent I think sleep is, I may try and finish the row first or in severe cases, I’ll just put the knitting down somewhere safe mid-row because I know I won’t be able to stay awake any longer!  Unfortunately it’s an occupational hazard for a knitter with M.E.!

Unfortunatly that’s not something I’m strugg;ing with at the moment. I seem to be in the can’t sleep won’t sleep stage at the minute. When I was first diagnosed I found knitting helpful for keeping me awake during the day so I could sleep at night.

my hubby always asleep and snores so loud he woke someone up over the road before!!!

that is so funny! ( well, not for the neighbours, obviously!!)

I’ve not fallen asleep over my needles (yet) and I am finding that knitting is helping with my concentration too. Fellow M.E. sufferers.. I’ve just started taking lecithin which is supposed to help with the transmission of electrical pulses in the brain ( lecithin contains choline which the body needs to produce acetylcholine check this out http://www.vitaminuk.com/pages/articles/lecithin.htm). I’ll let you know how I get on!

Cor blimey you lot - poor Nicky will be getting a complex.  Don’t panic Nicky I have been falling asleep in my knitting for years!  It doesn’t help if I’m very tired, or at MIL’s house where they never put the blinking main light on!!  But I have always managed to fall asleep in my knitting - and I did it yesterday!  Out in the garden on a lounger.  DH came home from work to find me cuddling my knitting.... ahem.  Well at least it wasn’t the next-door-neighbour, eh?  Oh and I’m 38 not a LOL, by the way! So don’t panic, it’s just the rhythm you fall into when knitting.  Just like the theory that the music you play a lot whilst pregnant will get the baby settled once it’s here - it’s all about rhythm, man!!

Well what’s wrong with a little snooze?  “I was only resting my eyes” is a good comeback if caught out!  As I said I fell asleep the other day on a sun lounger and was caught by DH hugging my knitting....

Nothing at all wrong with a little snooze and knitting in the afternoon is lethal for me if I am sat alone. Within 10 mins I can feel myself nodding off. It’s the same if I read. I find it a little mad how I wake up still holding my needles up hough as if still knitting. rolleyes

Oh I wouldn’t worry aoubt it - I’m sure you’re just having a cat nap - hence still holding your needles.  When I fell asleep in the garden I had rolled onto my front (not how I normally sleep!) and had the knitting under me!  Wanted to keep it safe from those marauding knitting nickers roaming around South Benfleet I suppose.... grin

By the way - you were in your BACK garden weren’t you??  Only we don’t want no hoi poloi wot falls akip in their frontage on this ‘ere forum you know - we’re a posh lot… underneath!!  And you don’t want the neighbours talking about you - or worse getting them pesky men in white coats to come get you.  Although my trick is to hide behind the settee and shout “I’m not in” at the top of my voice.... Seems to have worked so far.  Shush don’t tell “them”....

My mom has been known to fall asleep mid row!  It is so funny to watch her!

She has also fallen asleep cross stitching! LOL!
