hey everyone!

hope you are all well! I havent been on in ages, i’ve been really busy working I didnt have much time to myself at all for the past few weeks!  I just finished the job thank goodness as it was incredibly boring! (call centre work sucks!)

I passed my exams and got my degree in english and history so starting from september i’ll do a postgraduate course that you need to do in order to be a qualified teacher here.  That involves going to college and teaching in a school so its all go here!

I’ve knitted a dolphin pillow cover for my mum and a shamrock one for my boyfriends mum so my knitting hasn’t been neglected! Both involved intarsia which I really like! at the mo i’m kniting the chunky green jumper in this months lk, its my first attempt at a proper garment so fingers crossed it turns out ok!

Anywayz enough waffling on! How is everybody these days?

Gosh you have been busy. Welcome back LOL. I don`t envy you with that studying coming but good luck anyway. I tried doing a couple of courses in my local college & had to give them up due to various reasons. At the moment I need a challenge in my work life, mind you I`d better not say it too loud otherwise my wish will come true!  LOL Let us know how the jumper is coming on, I wouldn`t mind doing that one as well.

I’m actually kind of glad to go back to college I cant handle call centre work anymore!

It is difficult trying to squeeze study in between everything.. lol yea better not say that too loudly managers are only too happy to pass work on !

If i manage to finish the jumper i’ll post pics, im using a different yarn cos I’m not a huge fan of green but its coming on great so far I love knitting with chunky needles, it knits up so quick!

CONGRATULATIONS.....

I know how hard you will have worked as my No1 has a degree in English and History. She had 3 years of hard slog but we are SOOOO proud of her as she worked as well to get enough to survive.
She never tells anyone that she is a BA(Hons). But WE know grin grin

Hi Natalie, welcome back and congratulations on your fab results, you kept insisting you were a late crammer kind of girl! wink
Hows things, have you managed to move yet or have your neighbours settled down?
Glad your still knitting, I’m still trying to get used to the bamboos and I’m getting there slowly.

Hey Nicky!

I am a late crammer kind of girl LOL sometimes i get away with it and other times i dont!

Same old same old here we’re still in the flat, we did look around but the places that we saw were awful, small, dirty, falling apart, so in the end we decided to stay where we are! our neighbours have quietened down and at least we know our flat is up to scratch as we’ve done all the cleaning, repairs etc.. perhaps when im qualified to be a teacher and get myself a job next year we’ll be able to move!

I think it definitly takes a while to get used to the lighter feel of the bamboo ones, I can tell you the needles you sent are getting good use! I’ve also increased my stash and needle collection since working, my little basket of wool has turned into a very big basket, enough to cloth a small army according to my boyfriend LOL

How are the boys? enjoying the summer holidays i hope? and the hubby?

Thank you gill, your like my mum, she was more excited than I was when I told her i’d gotten a second honour!! She had the whole family told before i’d managed to get home LOL

It is difficult to work and keep up with the workload, I did it for a year, working and going to college as well but burned myself out and ended up having to stop working but it all worked out in the end!

Well done to your daughter though for managing it all for that long!! Is she teaching now ?

Thanx everyone for your kind comments smile

i’ll be sure to pop up a pic when i’m done with the sweater it might be a while though as I finished the back of it last night but when I cast it off it was too tight at the edges, looks like I need to cast off on bigger needles so I guess I’ll have to start again argh! Whats even more annoying is that I spent a good bit on the wool for it and now i’ll need to go buy another ball grr! I should have known to change needles to a bigger size my cast off is always too tight! downer

Hi Natalie. No1 is not a teacher....she can’t stand kids rolleyes She is an admin assistant to publishing managers for a VERY well known charity.
She still does’nt know what she wants to do and she is 40 this year!!!!! She is like my own mum who was a butterfly with jobs, unfortunately you cannot hop from job to job now like years ago.
Well done anyway for your efforts. I know how hard it will have been at times and your own mum will be so proud of you as I am of No1. Her graduation photo is up in pride of place in our home.

PS....when you cast off just use a size larger needle, that should give you just enough “give” to be right . If it is still too tight then try the NEXT bigger size.

I’ll be sure to try that im off out now to get the needles as I haven’t got any 16mm .. this gives me an excuse to go to the yarn shop, no doubt i’ll come back with more than needles! wink
