Hello people smile

I’m moving to Douglas, Isle of Man, next week and will only know a couple of people there. Being new to knitting, I figured joining a knitting group would be a great way to learn and practise, whilst meeting new friends. Anyone know of any groups in IOM?

I don’t know if LK magazine is available there - going to subscribe so I can be sure of getting it.

Thanks in advance

You could do an internet search (perhaps with your new postcode) of wool shops on the Isle, then contact them ASAP - you never know one of them may even run a Knitting Group like my LYS does!

Enjoy IOM.

Good luck.

Hiya Glyn,

Hope you find some knitty pals and all the best with the move.  I’m still tripping over boxes and it’s been a year in this house for us red face

Thanks guys smile

Have been planning the move for ages… I couldn’t book the ferry til I’d hired the van, as they needed to know the dimensions. I couldn’t hire the van til I knew how much stuff I had. So I basically had to pack as much as I could so I could see how it looked in boxes. I can only afford to do a single crossing on the ferry, so it’s all got to go in one load. So I started selling loads on ebay, partly to get some cash together, and partly to just GET RID OF STUFF. Quite liberating, really. But it feels like I’ve been busy forever, and I am sooooo looking forward to the day when I can get home form work and not have to start arranging things, phoning people, checking stuff, blah blah blah. I’ve given most of my furniture to charity, or to friends, so now I’m sitting at the computer on a wobbly plastic fold-out chair, with the monitor on a coffee table that really is uncomfortably low down!

I don’t have a job sorted yet, but have an interview lined up which looks really promising. I plan to use my fist few days (nefore I get a job & start work) to traul the island for yarn shops. If there aren’t any groups, I will most definitely start one!

Sorry for the lengthy ramble there - I’m so excited though! There is a very real danger that I might actually pop!

well all the bestfor it - and PLEASE try not to pop over the screen - it leaves an awful mess and is really hard to clean off.  Popped Glyn!

Enjoy your move and hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you

Ditto for me too.  Most of my boxes are knitting stuff.

Good look with the move, hope all goes well for you.

All the best for your move and don’t forget that the most important thing to pack LAST apart from your knitting, is the teapot.!!!

And along with the kettle a little snifter just in case things don’t go how you want them to - or hopefully to celebrate with!!
