Went out last night and put a quick bid on ebay for some Debbie Bliss wool in maroon, didn’t think for a minute would win it, but email said I did this morning Maroon cotton angora for roughly £1.30 a 50gm ball (including p & p) Must stop spending now for a while, still waiting posting of last ‘bargain’ hope postman comes when hubby not around lol xx wink Janet

I’ve been doing much the same.

I’m collecting odd balls of 100% for future projects, but then I see a few balls of something and can’t resist. Got various bits of Rowan and Jaeger arriving all for between 50p and 75p per ball

Just opened a bag of Debbie Bliss cotton angora in a lovely blue colour and am awaiting delivery of 10 balls Debbie Bliss cashmerino chunky - all for less than £2/ball

Not sure why this is being shared though as it’ll mean less bargains for me wink

Too easy Nessa, there are some fantastic bargins and much cheaper suppliers. It’s something else thats very addictive.
You need to set up an account to buy and/or sell and if you want to pay via the bank a paypal account too or you can post payments as postal orders or cheques. It’s fairly quick and painless to do and paypal accounts do come in handy as lots of online stores and sellers use them. I’ve come across a few usa based online yarn stores that use them. They are just a middle man for processing your payment so you are not giving out your bank/credit card details to all and sundry. It also means extra protection against fraud and unscrupolous sellers.
You can browse on there without an account the search engine is pretty straight forward.

Yes I use paypal, it is easy as said, too easy sometimes, lol, my Debbie Bliss came today, oooooooh gorgeous stuff, BUT (not sure if it will be a bargain in the end) met my daughter in Leeds and while waiting for her trawled the market and got some of that fancy thin stuff to make summer shrugs etc for 50p a ball, so got a fivers worth,so will find a nice pattern and hopefully it will come out ok, also came Sublime book with loads of lovely baby patterns in it to knit.
The secret with ebay is not to jump in too quick, sometimes, if you go in at last minute you can outbid someone, if you bid early, others tend to outbid you, good luck ! x Janet

Also check the feedback before you bid, if a lot of negatives stay clear, if one or two not so bad we all make mistakes etc, but if a lot not worth the hassle, there are plenty on there with good feedback, and you know they can be trusted x Janet

These are all really excellent tips, Ive been on ebay for.. oh 5 years? And by checking out previous bidders and buyers comments ive only ever had to get two refunds and those were something electrical! (Even then it was a no-stress situation). Its also great to get that yarn your not sure of but don’t want to pay an extortianate price for.

Also last tip, last minute bidding is good, BUT always have in mind what you want to pay for that item as it is always too easy to be tempted to get that win!

I’m an ebay addict, I love the site and have had some real bargains.
I check feedback and p&p;before bidding as I’ve seen some realy stupid p&p;prices.
The two times I never recieved my goods I was covered by the proection PayPal offers and recieved a full refund fairly quickly.
All the postmen know me and Ive even been given my parcels up my childrens school as the posties know my school pick up times.
I once had an evening delivery as postie knew I was waiting for some wool from ebay and he dropped it off on the way home, you can’t get better service than that can you ?, lol.
