It amazes me why people would pay that much,i can remember seeing a tom and jerry toy knitting pattern a few years ago sold for £100 its silly really what people will pay.

It IS amazing what people consider valuable..all perspective I guess. I sold two stuffed toys..NOT vintage, for $700 a few years back, all because of the name on the tag.

There is a woman who has an ebay shop and she makes a good living selling old patterns. Thing is tho, it takes alot of time because she has to source patterns constantly as well as list, keep up with postage etc. She is one of the fairer ones with postage tho...some seller pad their listings with ridiculous postage rates.

nope, they were toys by the guy who made beanie babies, but they were pre beanie..big stuffed monkey and koala. I found them in a tiny toyshop in wicklow for 7.99. only when the beanie craze took off did I realise the name meant something to other people..so I figured I’d give it a go and needless to say, was gobsmacked LOL

You can tell the kids you can carry collecting as its their inheritance building up. Then if you wanted to be mean you could leave it to a museum instead!!!! Threaten them with that to promote kindness to mum!!(and hwn)

Now THAT is the BEST reason (excuse? justification?) for continuing to collect pattern books and magazines I ever heard!! And I have every intention of using it
