Hello everyone,

I bought 15 pairs of bamboo needles from the following website:

http://www.bamboo-knitting-centre.com/

Sizes:2mm, 2.25mm, 2.75mm, 3.25mm, 3.5mm, 3.75mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, 8mm, 9mm and 10mm.

They are brand new, I even left a review on the site about the service !

They arrived yesterday and I tried to use the 3.75 but I couldn’t get used to them for the life of me! They are like.. too light.. for my liking .. Im gone so used to metal/plastic ones that I just cannot get used to them.  I know i’ll never use them and was wondering if anyone was interested in swapping?

I know some people here have been raving about bamboo needles and might appreciate swapping their metal/plastic ones for the bamboo ones, also some of you might have lots of spare needles and might like some bamboo ones?

If anyone is interested in swapping the swap doesnt have to be the exact sizes above or even the same number of pairs, I will still send you the whole set even if the ones you want to swap are not the same number of pairs as the above! I’m just looking to get some different sized plastic or metal ones to replace them cos it’ll be such a waste to have bought them and not use them at all. Also these needles were supposed to be my collection bought in one go and now i’m back to just having 4mm and i wanted to have several pairs for different patterns! Also I’d prefer to swap with just one person who has a couple of pairs to avoid excess postage!

If anyones interested please drop a comment back or send a mail with the sizes you’d like to swap, i’ll get back to you as soon as i’m online (im online everyday) and we’ll arrange it from there.  If noone’s interested .. ah well .. was worth a shot!

I can do that if noone else wants to take up the offer! Most of mine are metal’ I inherited loads from my MIL who no longers knits because of arthur itius and I bought loads from ebay in a bulk buy so if I have the same problem I will still have metal ones to fall back on. It also mean I will get round to sorting them all out finally instead of having to dip into 3 or 4 bags trying to find a pair the size I want.
I will have a look and list what I have, if someone else has a better selection/offer then thats fine.

Nicky that would be great, you may like the lighter feel of them, myself I can’t adjust to it!

You can mail me or post a reply, whatever you wish, and we can sort something out… can’t believe you have bags of needles!! Lol myself i’m trying to build up a collection… right now I have 2 pairs of 4mm metal needles and the bamboo ones, and since I wont use the bamboo ones, now i’m back to 2 pairs lol!

If you’d like a pic of the needles I can sort that out too, its the same as the pic on the website smile

Such a shame you can’t get used to the lighter bamboo one, I love them. I love the look of the coloured metal Boye ones though grin

I have a complete set of bamboo pins that my darling “HwN” bought for me but I find that I keep going back to my metal ones.  I found the bamboo got sticky and the wool would,nt slip. Maybe it,s me confused

Hi Natalie,
I’m sort of mid sort!! would of been finished if I hadn’t had “help” from the two boys.
My biggest problem is that a lot of the needles are imperial measurements so instead of 3 1/4mm they say size 10. So far have managed to sort out around 8 pairs in different sizes that are metric and in good condition. I had to throw quite a lot away as ends were missing etc. I also have put aside some crochet hooks (a big crochet pull out with the next issue of LK plus 3 bamboo hooks)and some cable needles. I seem to have aound 40/50 dpns in varying sizes as well so I’m trying to sort those into same size and length although most are the old fashioned long type so ok to use at home but not very portable for taking knitting out and about.
Anyway so far there is
3mm 3.25mm 3.75mm 4.5mm 5.5mm 6.0mm 7.5mm I think the other pair was 6.5mm I’ll check and get back to you if different.
crochet hooks 2.5mm 3.5mm 4.0mm .
Just remember that they are all pairs themselves and match but they are all different brands
3 cable needles 2/3mm 4.0mm another v shaped one which is around 4.5/5.0mm
I’ll finish sorting the dpns and include some of these and think of a way to keep them seperate and size labelled so you know what they are.
I do have a bag to put them all in but i’m afraid it’s only a cylinder type freebie from another mag. It’s the newest one I have the others are vintage and dog eared.
If you are happy with all these so far and nobody has a better offer that you prefer then hopefully I’ll have them ready in the morning and pm you with my details when you are ready. If you would prefer a piccie first then thats fine and I’ll send you asap.

Hey Nicky

Sounds great, I’m not fussy at all so please dont worry about them being different brands, as long as I can knit with them I really dont mind! Its better than having none at all!

erm.. I can’t knit with double pointed needles or ciruclar thingys, i’m a complete beginner so just the normal straight needles will do just fine! The bamboo ones I have are plain straight ones smile

You dont have to put them in a bag or anything, you might want the bag later, you can just pop them into a bubblewrap envelope dont go to any trouble!

I have crochet needles, i never use them, I tried to learn but didnt get very far, as for cable needles I dont know if i’d use them either so you might wanna hold onto them, I’m totally happy with just the straight needles in the sizes you mentioned!!

I’ll pm you my details now, please pm me yours too, also is it ok if i register the package? I used to work for amazon.co.uk as a customer service rep and i’m very conscious of all the nightmare stories i’ve heard of what can go wrong with royal mail, parceltnet, parcelforce, hdnl etc etc etc! I wanted to ask if it would be ok to register it cos you’d have to sign for it on delivery, and if your not there then you might need to go collect it and I dont wanna cause any bother cos I know some delivery offices are far away! You can let me know if its ok smile

I can have your package ready to go by tomorrow if I have your details, if not they’ll be in the post by the weekend smile

It sounds like you’ve gone to an awful lot of hassle so Thank you!!!

Ps: Dont worry about a pic! i’m not fussy!

Hi Natalie, Thats fine to send them registered, I’ll do the same if thats ok.
I’m confident your knitting skills will grow so I’ll still include the other bits and if you don’t use them you can dispose of them as you wish, maybe even in another swap. I really did not realise how many of them I had and I have more than plenty. The bag too, its just sat in a basket behind the settee since I had it so you may as well gat some use out of it, even to keep the spare stuff before you learn to use them/swap them. I’ll pm you my details now.

I’ve got your details, hope mine have come through ok. Didn’t put much because I can never read much of a pm as it all disappears behind the right hand side graphics.

NICKY I am so pleased that I saw this because I thought it was something I was doing wrong and I keep forgetting to ask No1 when she is showing me stuff on the PC. I wont worry about it now grin

Honestly don’t worry about it, its something I’ve been meaning to do for ages, you can list all your pins on ravelry so you can see in an instant if you have the needles you need if you find a pattern that you like, saves having to leave the pc to go and look. So it’s been on my to do list for a while but the sheer size kept me putting it off. It’s much more manageable now. So thank you for giving me a reason to pull my finger out. Boys are both at school tomorrow so it’s no bother. I have to go past the post office to collect Max so if I don’t get there in the morning they’ll be gone by 3.00 at the latest.
