Can anyone recommend a nice, funky knitting bag that is affordable? I really like the Amy Butler ones but I can’t justify £80 for a knitting bag.  rolleyes

I am not suprised. I had trouble for mothers day hunting one down I went through loads of online stores and they were either very expensive or very ugly and more occasionally than I’d like to admit both.
In the end I ended up looking on Ebay. Yes I know I live on ebay almost as much as I live on here, but they have the biggest selection style and price wise.
Some sellers with the bigger selections are Beadsandbags-uk Sammy’s pretty things has a very nice “free spirit” knitting bag and Ilovemyhandmadebag also has some lovely good quality looking bags. Her ebay shop is called Love that bag.
By the way after all that trwling my two older kids had crossed wires and each thought the other had bought the beautiful silk one I coveted. I ended up with a tote bag from Primark that cost about £2.50 until the renewed campaign for my birthday.!! It’s what I was using Tuesday night. My only other knit bag is a very old vintage carpet bag off Ebay for 99p that I had to wash 3 or 4 times in order to lose the fag smell it totally reeked of. Don’t worry all the above sellers are shops with brand new smell free stock!!!

I too have been looking for a knitting bag. I have recently taken up knitting again, and the nice one I got on the front of a magazine is way too small.

I think maybe I am coming round to the idea of knitting one!!!!

I use the free ones from magazines. I’ve pretty well coordinated the bag with the project.

Failing that, there are some lovely shopping bags around now we’re not supposed to be using plastic

CAn I recommend going to your local Asda and having a look at there tote bags? They always have one in some style and they are only about £3. As they are tote bags they are a fefect size for magizine/ book/ pattern, your needles and some yarn. Also because they are so cheap I have a few of them for each project.

That’s a great bag pattern!

If you have a look at the holiday sections in the shops at the moments there are usually a few nice bright tote bags hanging around.  I saw a couple of nice ones in Accessorize today. smile

Primark are the same the had some great tote style bags from just £1.50. Ok they won’t stand up to a lot of heavy use for shopping etc but knitting purposes they are fine. Mind you I still love the one I saw on ebay and the hints will soon be dropped again as my birthday is next month.

I got a great bag from TK Maxx for my knitting. It cost about £8 and is a girly Eastpak holdall with three good sized pockets on the front that fit my circular needles and other bits in perfectly grin

Of course if you knitted one it could be as funky as you like??????????????????

Here’s another idea - this bag is made up of bits and pieces of oddments left from the things I’ve knitted for my Granddaughter Abi.

I started knitting a 4inch tension square to experiment with a stitch, then another, then another.... then - hey presto after a while had so many in the bottom of my knitting basket by my chair (some people have a log basket or magazine holder - I have a big knitting basket, but that doesn’t stop things creeping across the floor and onto other bits of furniture, ha ha!) I started stitching them all together, I was going to make a bath mat but wandered off on a tangent, sewed the sides together, then did some ribbing round the top and lined it with leftover furnishing calico; using a couple of folded strips for the handles. No cost, all scraps, just time used.

So many ideas so little time… good luck everyone who’s experimenting.

How’s the felting experiments grin going Nicky?
